Connie and Kids in Australia by Constance Helmericks

• CATEGORIES: Books, Features This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Published in 1971, this is supposed to involve a jeep.  I will purchase and let you know.

“This is one of the last books in a series that started with “Connie and Bud” discovering Alaska in the late 40’s. True pioneers and adventurous in nature, after years of Artic living they both went their separate ways. Bud deciding on becoming a Bush Pilot, hunting guide, explorer, and expert on the Alaska outback. Connie, with her two teenage daughters, continued on in life’s many adventures by heading to Australia for an extended “walk about.

With her usual in depth observations about life, she visits all that Australia has to offer. From the small outback villages to the “Big” cities. Her observations on the aborigines has proven, by history, to be quite concise and accurate. Her observations on the lifestyles of the Aussies is most interesting when compared with observations of todays visitor.

A book worth reading more so if one is contemplating a visit or has been on one and wishes to compare.
Mrs. Helmericks has lived a lifetime in adventure. Anyone reading this book will find the earlier ones most interesting and will simply wonder: “How did they do that?””

Dually Adapters Boise, ID **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: Parts This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  **SOLD** Was on eBay.

“I’m not sure of the exact age of this set but they did come off a WW2 GPW. I have heard that dual wheel adapters may have been used during WW2 particularly on radio jeeps but I have not personally seen photos or documents to substantiate this. I do have a Korean War era photo from the National Archives that does show duals on a GPW/MB. (photo above in slide show)

The dual wheel kit is very easy to install. Remove the original lug nuts from a wheel, leave the wheel on, install extended lug nuts, install the cast hub, install next wheel, and tighten up original lug nuts on extended lug nuts.

The kit includes both left (5) and right (5) threaded extended lug nuts and two cast hubs.

These dual adapters are in good usable shape; there are a couple chips out in the lips of each casting but these chips do not affect use or appearance. They are not visible with the second wheel installed.

These Dual wheel adapters are extremely hard to find so don’t miss this rare opportunity to put this ready to go set on your jeep. You’ll be sure to stand out in the crowd and these can be shipped world wide.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2000.

This appears to be a M-38 with bow holders on the side and bow holders at the rear corners.  Very odd.

“I have for sale a 1947 Willys military model Jeep. It was used in the Navy. It is all original except for the motor. The motor is a Dauntless 225 v6. It runs great. I also have the doors for the to and three extra tires to go with the Jeep.”

Bruce spotted this unusual flattie.

“We have a 1946 Willys jeep that was passed down from my grandfather. It was running last year but had some bad fuel and needs a carb job and a clean tank of fuel. Engine and transmission in great shape, but the suspension needs to be replaced. The body is very much restorable. I am only interested in serious offers on this Jeep…No tire kickers please. Im not sure on the KM’s, but had to put in something. 4000$ OBO”

1951 CJ-3A Falkville, AL **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3A, Fire/Police/Industry Vehicles This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3200.

This is an ex-United Airlines jeep with a brass plaque still attached. It might be an interesting restoration if some early pictures can be found.

“This is a 1951 Willys Jeep with a 1946 windshield. The jeep was used by United Airlines to pull luggage carts and still has a brass plate on the dash with United Airlines and the vehicle number on it. Because of it’s use it only shows 6,823 miles on the odometer. I have no way of knowing if this is actual miles but have no reason for believing that it is not. When I put new tires on the Jeep last year the old tires looked new as far as wear but were dry rotted. The jeep was painted 3 years ago after any rusty areas were repaired with fiberglass resin and fiberglass matt. The repairs were not fixed with bondo. The vehicle is for fun and not for show. I have grandsons from age 4 to age 25 and some of them learned to drive a straight shift in this jeep. The paint job is not perfect by a long shot. The jeep is near perfect mechanically including transmission, rear end, transfer case, 4 wheel drive, steering, and brakes. Brakes were rebuilt this year. Motor cranks every time, does not smoke, and has always been dependable. Jeep has an antique tag and is road worthy. If you are looking for a Jeep that is mechanically sound, dependable and a lot of fun this may be it. Is mostly original except it is painted and has decals as a military jeep but it was not. The seats are mustang seats covered by me.”

1965 CJ-3B Phoenix, AZ **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3B • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay

(08/01/2012) This looks in good condition, though has a few unusual minor mods.

“Great condition, stock tall hood Jeep. Engine was rebuilt 12743 miles ago, and had a tune up about 200 miles ago. The odometer was spun back to zero when the motor was rebuilt. Shifts great, doesn’t pop out of gear like some do. Starts right up, runs all day and doesn’t get hot. Has brakes from a Gladiator truck, so it stops pretty well. Everything works. Very reliable. Hard to find defroster, Warn hubs. Top is nearly new. Tow bar, old school radio and speakers, brass fire extinguisher. Body work looks good from 10 feet, but has flaws. It’s not a show car, I drive it around town all the time. CA Registered to April 2013. It’s more fun to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow. No reserve. Please contact with any questions.”
