About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .
In our continuing, virtually unending series on museums, comes the National War Museum in Malta. This museum houses only one willys, but it is a rather famous Willys named “Husky”. Also, I’m usually pretty good with geography, but I had Malta (the isle of Malta that is) quite a bit west and didn’t remember it being an island!
According to this site, “This Willys Jeep was brought to Malta by General Dwight D. Eisenhower in July 1943. It was used by the Commander-In-Chief, Allied Forces, Mediterranean during his stay in Malta, preparatory to the invasion of Sicily. He named the jeep “Husky” after the code-name of that operation. Before crossing over to Sicily, General Eisenhower presented the jeep to Air Vice Marshall Sir Keith Park, Air Officer Commanding Malta. This jeep was subsequently used by Franklin D. Roosevelt when the American President visited Malta on December 8, 1943.”
‘1950 Willy’s CJ3A; Runs excellent; New Tires, New 6 volt battery, New Carburetor, New Brakes. These old jeeps are hard to come by! The floor pan is solid but the body has some Bondo. The running gear and motor are in good condition. The jeep has a 12 volt winch on it but the winch battery needs to be replaced. The jeep would be a great one for a restoration project or a hunting vehicle. 3 speed with a super low granny gear that will climb any hill on the mountain. Towing fork on the front for hauling it to your favorite hunting spot. The Jeep is registered for road use.”
“WW2 jeep GPW date on glove box tag is 8/17/42, serial number on tag and frame is 40163. Both transmission and transfer case have old rebuild tags from Richmond, Ca. Engine will run needs carb., dist. work and?”
“This rare old jeep has been used hunting and 4-wheeling and putting around town. It has some paint but is mostly brown primer. The body has not been altered except for moving the fuel receptacle from under the seat to the side of the vehicle , so it could easily be restored. The engine is GPA,(military amphibious), and runs good. It has the original back seat but the front seats have been replaced. It also has a canvas top and a winch (made from WWII airplane parts).”
No pics and no description. However, it sounds like there’s some cool stuff for sale.

This sounds interesting. It includes a rebuilt motor.

“67 JEEP CJ5, original Buick Dauntless V6, 3 speed manual transmission, Ramsey PTO winch, back seat, fresh paint, full soft top and soft doors, runs and drives great! 31″ co-op mudders, really cool setup. I will take some new pics soon and post them this pic is right after the paint was dry and before the mirrors and trim was put back on.”
“This first civilian version of the US Army Jeep remains in near original state. I have the original front and back seats. The Willys was stored indoors since 1998. I replaced the master cylinder, wheel cylinders, cleaned the fuel system, rebuilt the carburetor, put in fresh plugs, points, rotor, capacitor and distribution cap. The 6 volt system operated the lights and starts the Willys with ease. The differential lube has been changed as well as fresh oil in the motor. The original style tires are mounted with tubes and hold air, but I’m not sure how road worthy they would be. The picture shows just how original this Willys actually is. It would make a great ranch or hunting Jeep. It comes with tow bar not pictured. Asking $4500 or best offer, but don’t hesitate to make a reasonable offer.”
Someone invested some time and money into this rebuild.
“For sale is a 1946 CJ2A that has just been completed from a frame of restoration. EVERYTHING on this jeep was taken apart and made like new again. The axels were completely rebuilt all new bearings and seals. There are new brake shoes and lines running to all the wheels, along with all new wheel cylinders. The frame was sand blasted down to the metal prepped with a anti-rust formula, and painted with several coats of chassis paint. Both the amazing original 4cyl engine and T-90 transmission were completely rebuilt with new bearings, gaskets, seals, rings, spark plugs, wires, distributor, new clutch disc and carrier, and everything professionally checked out Also the Engine was custom fitted with a newer and easier style oil filtration system to keep it running forever. The Jeep has been converted to 12v system and in now running a new single wire alternator, coil, and rebuilt starter. This CJ has also had a steering conversion to power steering. It now runs off a saginaw power steering gearbox, and a new p/s pump. The Steering column has been replaced with a very high end Flaming River tilt steering column setup and walnut Grant steering wheel. The Jeep was further customized, by adding completely custom and one of a kind walnut dash covering, full roll cage, and a custom made front and rear bumper, and has also been fitted with seats from a 2008 Jeep Patriot. The Jeep sits 4 inches higher with a brand new Superlift 4″ suspension lift, having all new Superlift leaf springs and shocks. With the Jeep also comes the four 17″ Black Rock Wheels plus a fifth matching one for a spare, and a 1950’s Military style jerry can for a little extra gas when you need it. The Jeep runs and drives great and has 20 miles on it since its completion the 20th of August 2010. And is great fun driving around with the top down or even on rainy days with its new Best Top Tigertop. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.”
“this is a 1949 willys jeep truck , I have just lost intrest. everything you see was built about ten years ago. this jeep has a nova subframe, four link rear suspension with coil over shocks. i believe the motor mounts have been moved to fit a big block. the wheels are centerline warriors, the front wheels are new in box, also i have a new set of phantom autometer guages, and a new 16 gallon fuel cell with straps. all body work was 90 percent complete ten years ago. this jeep needs a new home and i need the extra room. this jeep would be a one of a kind”
