About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .
(11/04/09) “42 GPW, Ford jeep- ex military, was going to be a future project, was purchased in Colorado from the owner who had obtained it from his uncle and was ulitized on both of their farms, I had the vehicle shipped to Illinois- has clean frame ( no road salt used in state) main reason I bought the vehicle. GPW runs but has untill recently has been in inside storage, and is parked outside and needs a little work. Unit is missing original gas tank and support strap but I will donate a cj2a fuel tank to get you going.”
UPDATE: The price dropped to $2000. No engine/tranny and needs wiring. The Body has been customized to look MBish.
(11/13/09) “1948 Willy’s CJ-2A 80″ wheel base, with a custom built roll bar. Body has been customized to appear as an MB. No engine or transmission, original Dana 18 transfer case. Original front axle, Dana 44 rear. Missing front drive shaft. Needs some minor wiring on lights and gauges. Fuel tank and battery needs secured. Has 33/12.50r15 all terrain tires with good tread. No rust, just needs a little TLC. Questions, call 602-404-7899 leave message if no answer.”
“Looking for a good home!! Here is a great find that needs some restoration. Southern car/ runs fine/ needs brakes. Other than the rear bumper, the body appears to be original and in very good condition. Floor does need some work. Engine is a big Chevy straight 6 and runs strong. Transmission wheel drive shifts and works smoothly. All doors and windows are tight. Steering is also very tight and smooth. Newer shocks and tires. Four wheel drive. This is NOT a rust bucket – just an antique wagon looking to be beautiful again!!! $2,200 OBO. Also have several parts that could be included.”
A reader asked if anyone is familiar with any vehicle using a 16.5 x 8.25″ wheel with 33 x 12.50 x 16.5 tire? The reader has some rims that he was told were original, but he can’t find anything about them.
For $700, this might be a decent price. That front sure looks a bit twisted though.
“1943 cj2a Ford Flatfender (willys) Much more rare than the willys. Ford produced some of the flatfenders for the military during the war to keep up with demand…. HAS TITLE Decent body. Excellent Front Fenders. Ford 2.8L V6. No Tranny or t case. Excellent candidate for project. $700.00 OBO CLINT 253-820-2484 I work nights so please no calls betwwen 2am and NOON”
The price appears high on this project, but the seller isn’t the owner. It will likely drop.
“1948-49 Split window Willys Jeep. Was in the process of being restored. Many new parts installed. Engine rebuilt by machines shop, with reciepts. Owner was unable to complete and relocated down south. I am selling this for a friend. I was helping him with the restoration. Call me for details any questions. Asking $2000.00 or best offer. ”
You gotta love the ‘flower’ box on the windshield … well, at least is looks like a flower box. According to the CJ-2A page, there was only production of 73,378 CJ-2As produced by the end of 1946, which would make this CJ-2A, with a serial number of 73459 as an early ’47 (assuming VINs, bodies, etc etc weren’t switched). I didn’t realize this had the 6 cylinder in it. It fits snugly. No title!
“1946 Willys Jeep CJ-2A. I’ve owned this jeep for about 16 years. We use it every year during elk and deer season. Other than that it’s stored inside undercover. The body is pretty straight for it’s age and has very little rust, although there is some under the driver and passenger seat pans. The seats are just the steel frame with no cushions. The speedometer is missing but has the other gages. She starts easily and runs good but don’t plan on going anywhere fast (top speeds about 45mph). The original flat head 4 has been replaced with a Willys Super Hurricane 6 cylinder 226 cu. in. engine (produced by willys after 1954 for their pick ups.) It fits very nicely and delivers about 115 hp.so lots of power for climbing or dragging that big one out of woods. Transmission and transfer case are stock and work fine, although half of the rear driveline is missing (I think it dropped off during the tow home this year). The paint is mostly camo with the original red showing inside the cab area. I have’t had it registered since I bought it and can’t find the original title so I’ll issue a notarized bill of sale.”
It’s unclear what 10% still needs restoring. I’m not sure what’s causing the backward sloping.
“90% Restored; New, rebuilt 305 Chevy V8, manual transmission, new alternator; new battery, new water pump, new electric fan, new wiring, new starter, 31″ tires & spare tire, new paint, new shocks, rebuilt carburetor. Call Flint @ (951)775-4051 or email me: flintthornock@yahoo.com”
This might be a reasonable price. It’s got a fiberglass body and the rest of the parts look good. But, it sure is dirty!! Note there is not motor.
“1949 willys project could be cool ! bought years ago never touched it ! body in good shape all fiberglass ! no motor ! but once had 351 small block ! has adapter to trans i think it has org. trans and t case should be lots of good parts but i didnt build it so i dont know alot about it ! got it some years back was gonna rob body for another project and sell all the rest but as u can see that never happened ! it also has good title a little time and money could be cool ! shoot me some offers !”
