Hugo spotted this article about the dually wheel adapter in an April 1949 Popular Mechanics article. I can’t remember seeing duallies on the front.
Bill forwarded the picture of a St. Petersburg Dealership below. That got me searching the net for a few more.
This picture is from Boerne, Texas. I found it here.
This picture is from Spokane, Wa, and the Spokesman Review (and current good view):
Honestly, I’m not sure if this is a real card or not. But, the picture was cool, so I thought I’d post it.
There are a few modifications jeep.
“1945 Willys MB, original Army Jeep, painted with original and correct OD green last year, rebuilt original “Go Devil” L head 4cyl, 3spd out of slightly newer CJ, 4wd works great, 1973 (yes, 39 year old tires) Goodyear Mud Terrain tires on original Willys 16X6 wheels, original gas tank removed and floor patched (previous owner), now has hidden gas tank, dana 44 rear, Wrangler Sahara seats, fires right up every time and runs incredibly smooth.
This is not a perfect jeep. Tires and wheels in the photos are gone and the aforementioned Goodyears are on the Jeep. I purchased it to make it look like it used to with modifications to be used as a fun driver and that it is. If you are interested in something that is not a perfect restoration ready for a museum then give me a call, email or text and we can negotiate a good price and a time to see it. I live in Eugene but the Jeep is in my parents garage over near Newport.
Thanks!
Mike
