Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Since sam last reported about the prototype bolt-on rack and pinion system for early jeeps, he has made a few changes to improve the ability to install the system onto jeeps that have been lifted. He reports that the system is installed on a number of jeeps without any issues. The system dramatically improves steering at low speeds and at highway speeds.

Glenn spotted these Wagner-Tracs on a CJ-2A. While it has a CJ-2A body, this is probably a CJ-5 or CJ-3B frame, because the tracks require a wheel base of exactly 81 inches. The tracks are one of six produced and bolt onto the axles.
According to the information at the video’s homepage:
“The Tracks were manufactured by a company called “A. F. Wagner Industries Inc.” of concord California. They were made sometime during the mid 60s and there was only 6 sets made and were apparently expensive and thus may be the reason there were so few made. They are called “Wagner-Trac” and were made specifically as a set of tank tracks for a jeep with a wheelbase of 81 inches. The wheelbase is not adjustable so the wheelbase is critical and just like a tank you would have to install turning brakes to drive the Jeep because the steering is null and void as soon as you bolt them on. They are all steel construction so were probably designed for offroad only.”
This is a mix of M-38/CJ-2A and other parts.
“1948 Willy’s CJ2A Jeep. Has a 1971 Buick 231 V6 with Hedman headers. Manual and electric fuel pump. 2 fuel cells, orignal cell under the seat and a rear 12 Gal cell. Rebuilt steering box, Warn hubs and 31 spline axles a full roll cage. Has a 3 speed transmission with overdrive. Spare tire rack, front tow bar. has an all original steel body, with herculiner bed coating on the interior. Please cal for further info. Thanks 720-999-6102”

This looks nice enough, but based on the body and grille, it doesn’t appear to be a 1945 CJ-2a. Note the odd spring behind the driver’s seat in the third picture.

“1943 JEEP
I’ll put a short dissertation together.
It is a 1943 GPW Ford Jeep. Bought it in Colorado in the mid 70s and did a minor restoration on it ,it ended up in central Wi in a garage for 40 years.
Went through the drive train etc. It runs very nice, all gearing is good,the body had some rust in the bed behind the seats so that was removed and installed checker plate. The job was done right. Ther is NO rust on this jeep.
It still has the 6 volt system as well as the Willys 4 cyl flathead engine. Runs smooth and quiet It has black out lights in the front along with the blackout dash light switch. All dash instruments are stock.
I have a fair amount of extra parts like a couple of “jerry” fuel tanks, a NEW water pump, stock seat and CJ2 grille, front drive shaft etc.

Now for the not so good news but honesty anyway. The Wi. Title calls it a 1947 but as you can see it has no tailgate, 47s did someone at the DMV screwed up and was never caught but the serial # is correct as seen on the frame. Qs just ask
