About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .
“Project, all original except the top. Speedo shows 13k. Two stick PTO and Ramsey winch. Clear Tennessee title in my name. Look at the pictures and ask questions.”
Jeep races used to be a near weekly event during the summer back in the 1970s. Below are examples of Pacific Northwest 4Wheel Drive Association (PNW4WDA) races held between 1967 and 1970 near my local Eastern Washington community.
It’s hard to believe gived the growth in the Tri Cities (an area consisting of three cities–Richland, Kennewick, Pasco, all separate by rivers) in southeast Washington that races were held near Columbia Point. Now, that area is either wetlands, parks, or homes. Here are several articles with names I’m familiar with. These races were held in conjunction with the annual Water Follies celebration, an event still being held, though without jeep races, though the unlimited hydros still run.
From the June 4, 1967, issue of the Tri Cities herald:
An article later in the year contained some great images (July 16, 1967 Tri City Herald):
The results of the race were reported in the July 24, 1967 issue of the Tri City herald:
The July 20, 1969, issue included this pic from the racing:
Two days later, the July 22, 1969, issue of the Tri City Herald published the results:

“1942 Willys MB slat grill. Vin 121995 with title. Running/driving. Brakes inop. Matching engine block and very early head. Not sure if the head is original. Missing frame tag but assuming it’s original too. Definitely worth a restore just not in the cards for me right now. Most recently it was owned by a farmer in KY for 40 years. Script panel missing as PO welded metal in the rear tub portion. Also some tomfoolery with springs on the shocks for added suspension. Closest offer to 7500 gets to take it home.”
Craig shared this early DJ-3A #1134. There’s a lot of stock jeep there.
“1956 Willys DJ3A “The Dispatcher” Slated as a light delivery vehicle this is the first year for this model of Willys. The production number stamped in the frame is 1134 I believe. I will confirm that. This was my dads first vehicle and has been in the family since 1961. As far as I know we were the second owner. I have the original title. It’s a project. I have almost all of the original parts. What is missing is the motor, radiator, and seats. I have three of the original hubcaps. I have two tires on it that do hold air. The floor pans are rusted out. Last time it was on the road was 1973. It does have a factory heater. If you know the DJ’s then you know it is factory 2wd. I also have the doors. This is very difficult to post as I have a long history with this vehicle. Circumstances in life change and sometimes you have to let go of dreams. Ask any questions you want. I have more pics somewhere I will add later.”
“1949 Willy’s Jeep CJ3A. Beautiful little Jeep perfect for the ranch or around town. Original body motor and transmission. Priced to sell fast. Need the money to fix my Camaro. Title in hand. No low offers please if you don’t have the money I might take partial trades for loud hunting equipment. Call or text me. Pick up in New Braunfels Tx”
This is missing the battery box lid (battery box?), but does have the indent on the passenger cowl. Note that both batteries are under the hood in tandem.
“Selling a 1946 post WWII Willys Jeep. Original and complete. Has rear PTO option. Tub has rust. Could probably be patched back together or find a new tub. You can find every part for this jeep online still. Clean title in hand.”
“For Sale – Barn Find. 1954 M38A1 Willy’s Jeep. This rig was in bad shape. It sat for 5+ years. 12 volt. Original Engine. All oils and fluids changed. Front and rear driveshaft seals and gaskets replaced. Transfer case replaced before I purchased. Radiator rebuilt. Rebuilt floor boards. Rebuilt gas tank. New gas well in body. Rebuilt tool box. New windshield. Seats reupholstered. Carburetor rebuilt. New fuel pump. New alternator. Steering worm replaced. New Steering box seals (still leaks). New brakes and front wheel bearing. Lights work. Turn lights do not. Horn works. Temp gauge & AMP gauge work; other gauges and accessories do not. Have speedometer cable (not installed). This jeep starts good and runs good for being 68 years old. Steering does have some ‘drift’. Not show quality but I bet your neighbor doesn’t have one. Clear title. $6,400.00 US dollars. This Jeep is ‘for sale’ locally. I reserve the right to refuse any and all offers.”
