Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1955 cj5, 4 cyl hurricane engine, runs good. has dual koenig pto and a koenig front winch, all works, has new brake drums, fuel tank and new points and condensor, carb was rebuild and many other things were repaired or new.
very little and minor rust, no rust cancers through the body or frame. has a newer bestop soft top for the jeep and is in good shape, no rips or tears and the soft vinyl windows are whole and clear. comes with a tow bar
has current ca registration and clean ca title”
This June 28, 1970, article form the Lexington Herald describes tours of Kentucky’s Red River area via a modified FC-170. The business was started by Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bowen with a VW bus, but it’s easy to imagine that a better vehicle was needed.
I looked for additional articles about this endeavor, but didn’t have any luck locating anything.

“1948 Willys Pickup hot rod 307 chevy v8 turbo 350 auto, gm 3:08 open rear… Mostly willys frame Z’d out back. Has an early ford straight axle. Disc brakes in front, drums in back. Original willys steering box. Early ford bed cut down. White whites and cheater slicks. Interior is very basic Running and driving, needs a lil work, hasnt been used much atoll… Artwork is related to WWII; flags are NHTP for USS Conservor. It was a Rescue and Salvage ship my dad served on”

This may have been a Texaco service station jeep. I can make out “Jerry’s”.

The passenger side has some rust. I can’t tell if it is surface or deep.

“1951 Jeep CJ-2A VIN: 451GB122992 Clean Title Flat Head-4, 3 Speed Runs, shifts, 4×4 also New brake lines installed. Frame only shows surface rust. All new wheel cylinders & brake pads replaced except rear driver side (for the life of me couldn’t get the drum off), all new preformed brake lines, rebuilt master cylinder, rebuilt carb, all fluids replaced including differentials, new hub bearings, headlights high and low, but no turn signals or brake lights. I put new taillights on as well but they have to be wired up, as well as a new turn signal stalk that’ll have to be wired up. Cleaned out and repainted the fuel tank, also installed a tach.”
Looks like an older body based on the interior discoloration.
