Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. It runs.

This appears to be a solid jeep that was restored with care. But, to label this ‘museum quality’ is, well, to put it gently — with great restraint — is inaccurate (for starters, too many non-original parts). Also, ‘Light Green’ is not one of three colors of a 1946 CJ-2A of that vintage (that is, post vin#38221); instead there were 6 color schemes (all listed at the CJ-2A Page’s history section).
“For sale is a restored 1946 Willys Jeep CJ2A. The Jeep’s body and visible parts were restored to show quality. All engine parts were kept spec. Jeep runs great and is stored in a garage all year long. The following is a list of stock parts and upgrades: Complete engine restoration, New windshield, New gauges, New Paint (1946 Light Green) one of 3 original colors, 4 New Non-Directional Tires, New gas tank, New brakes (Hand brake also works). Odometer was not working when the vehicle was bought. It is unknown how long the odometer was not working. Odometer has since been fixed. Approximately 50 miles or less on the restored motor.”

(12/15/2010) This looks in decent condition, but needs some work.
“1948 Jeep Willys CJ2a 4×4 ( great for a rock crawler project? ); 4 cyl ( looks like all original drivetrain ); Aluminum wheels & tires come with it. 4×4; Clean body for a 1948 have looked at a few in vegas this one is nice for the money. Needs work not a driver. Was told it ran a year ago cranks over but needs fuel line work and fuel tank cleaned out, Also ignition switch missing. Email for more pics. Clean Nevada Title.”
Rudolf, a native of Holland, has moved to the island of Bali in Indonesia. There, he stumbled on this unusual 6×6 last month. Well, I guess he has found some other WWII flatties. He thought readers might be interested in purchasing them if the export/import can be worked out.

Steve spotted this, noting that the seller says the top is leather. That would seem unusual.
“Over $20,000 invested in this frame off full restoration. New paint Fall 2008. New wiring package. Rope gaskets changed out with rubber to stop garage leaks. Runs like a top. $1200 leather top and doors. Ziebart undercarriage protection for corrosion. Call for a test drive. Must sell. Will email more pictures direct if requested. Perfect Willy to put in a parade, do work on the farm, or drive into town to get a gallon of milk.”

It runs, but has some rough edges.

According to the seller, this is restored except for the paint. No indication as to whether the numbers match or not.

This runs. It might be good price. Maybe its my eyes, but there are a few details that suggest this needs a closer look (the mbish tow bar, the lack of holes for the front parking lights, and the gas inlet seems a little small), but maybe I’m just sleepy.
