UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $900

(11/16/2010) You know, this deserves a closer look.  I think that front looks wide enough that it might be a Dana 30.  The cage looks good as well.  I’d let the price drop some, but there might be some value here.

“51 Willys Jeep needs motor & transmission, had small block chevy, chevy power steering. Soft top, new mirrors, misc parts.”

Jim’s 1947 CJ-2A

• CATEGORIES: Builds, CJ-2A, Features • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Jim recently purchased this nice looking CJ-2A.

He writes, “Here are a few pictures of my 1947 Willys CJ2A. It has had a ground up restoration several years ago. I bought it out of Kansas and now it is in the California Sierra Nevada Mountains where I use it at our cabin.

The Willys has a new tub body but original hood and tail gate. It has all the original plaques and auto numbers. All other parts reflect the period except a roll bar and a steering stabilizer. The engine runs like a sewing machine.

I am still working on it to make it better and original. The paint job also reflects the year. If I could find a restored flat fender with the original body and in this good of shape I might jump ship. Meanwhile I enjoy driving this vehicle where everything works like it did 63 years ago, which by the way is my age!”

Congrats Jim.  It looks like fun 🙂

Green Diamond Tire

• CATEGORIES: Tires and Rims, Vendors, Website This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Gerald spotted these unusual tires. The theory behind these tires is similar to the “Sawdust tires” that were produced and sold a couple decades ago.  Sawdust tires were recapped tires with sawdust (sometimes walnut shells were used too) embedded within the rubber mold so that as the rubber wore, the sawdust was exposed.  These tires were only good for a year, but according to internet reports, worked quite well. Apparently, they were also much friendlier to the pavement than studded tires, though studded tires work better.  Here’s a brief thread about them.

According to their history, the Green Diamond Tire of North America arrived in 1999.  As of 2009, the company is under new management and seeking to build a manufacturing location in the Western US.  Probably one reason for the Western Location is that a large number of Big O Tire retail outlets are selling the tires in Colorado.  The company’s western headquarters is currently located in Denver.

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2700.

“This is a “barn find” ’46 Willys jeep cj-2a complete and original condition. has rare snowplow with hydraulics (Scheneker iron works model “b”plow with Hy-Lo-Jeep monarch belt driven hydraulics). and very rare power take off(p.t.o.) transmission with lever in cab. also under dash heater( an option) and a pto attachment to run an 8 in. belt to drive a pump or farm machinery original in original box(even the box is well made). i bought another car from this guy and fell for this one too, but i have 4 classic convertables already and no room for this one.or time to drive it. also… i can’t get it to turn over! i’m soaking the cylinders now but no luck yet. Willys “go-devil” flathead four “Willys won the contract mostly due to its more powerful engine (the “Go Devil”) which soldiers raved about, ” from wikipedia. has slide in ladder racks also. i always wanted a wwII vehicle and this one could also be useable(plow). but i want a lot of things and it’s a car too far for me”

1946? CJ-2A Newborn, Ga $3500

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

The rear isn’t looking like ’41 running gear to me.  It could be a CJ-2A body. I’m not sure which parts are from a ’59.

1946 Jeep Willys in good running condition with very little rust. 1959 Jeep on 1941 running gears included for a parts machine, but this Jeep could also be built up on its own. 770-784-1239.”
