Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Here’s a pair of wagons. Maybe they will equal a whole one.
“I have a 1949 and a 1958 Willys wagons for sale. They are both projects. The 58 ran when parked and needs battery cable, throttle spring and it should be good to go. The 58 has a Borg Warner Overdrive in it and a new exhaust system. I have too many projects and would like to see them gone.”

This looks pretty good for only $1200. No indication as to why it needs a new tranny.

(03/22/2010) This looks well put together. I like the way that Pontiac engine sits in the engine compartment. However, I’m confused about one item .. no gauges? See picture 1.
“This is a 1946 WILLYS and man is it COOL! The body is all fiber glass and in great shape. It has a 4 cylinder Pontiac motor. The old guy I am selling it for just drives it in parades but it drives real nice and is street legal. It is very clean I did not air up the tires in the picture but thay are fine.”

(04/16/2010) This might be a great find for someone. This appears driveable now or a great candidate for restoration. This also has a PTO winch.

(03/16/2010) Here’s a stock CJ-5 in good shape.
“1956 Willys Jeep , 4 cylinder Willys motor, 3 spd tranny, Factory Era hard top with hard doors, heater, lights wipers all work. Runs and drives, Also have tow bar that goes on the front with two bolts, spare tire, tire chains. Four wheel drive works good. Has working tail gate, This is a fun little jeep. Mark writes, “On the tough east side of Houston well behind a blighted salvage yard the old guy said “there’s some Willys behind that fence”. As a newby seeing one pass on the highway is a rarity so when I saw this I just about leaked transfer case oil. 12 in all, the Dirty Dozen. Sorry about the quality of the pics, there was this mean looking dog, and he looked hungry.”

Dan shared some images updates on the progress of rebuilding his grandfather’s CJ-5. Truly, I don’t know how he finds the time as he always seems to have nightly craigslist links to share with readers (many thanks for those!). See some past posts about Dan’s project here.
As you can see, Dan has rebuilt the Hudson steering column, painted the front end, and readied the front end for an updated disc braking system. NICE! This will should look great when finished. Thanks for sharing …
This is interesting … that looks like an VEC CJ-2A body at the very least. I’d like a serial number on this one.
