Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (04/17/2010) It’s a nicely maintained old Jeep. The underneath of the body looks great!
“This Vehicle was owned by an older Gentleman for the last 24 years, It looks to be meticulously well maintained and cosmetically redone on the body . The paint appears to be new at some time before i got it , I waxed it and it was the first time anyone had ever waxed it, not that it was neglected I think he just did not get too it before he passed away. This jeep was always stored in a garage and covered before I bought it. Also the interior seats were recovered in a tan vynle , note I did see one small 1/4 inch tear repair on drivers seat looks like a good repair, also the rollbar is upgraded to around 3″ version with a new black bikini half top, The electrical system was also converted 12 volt with a one wire alternator , with new taillights and marker reflectors . Front bumper looks new with a new brush guard with accessories running lights and brackets for the tow bar that bolts to it, also new headlights with chrome rings and screen guards also stainless grill screen guard. All the gauges fuel temp amps and oil are new ,original speedo The original wipers are not hooked up or on . I was told they weren’t working but go with vehicle. New Goodyear Wrangler tires and white spoke rims .The body by my inspection does not appear to have any rust or ever had any rust repairs that I can see from inspecting from looking underneath the body. This Willys starts and runs excellant runs real quiet cruises nice at 55 -60 mph also has a tachometer. Has all dash 4×4 stickers and plates . The motor runs strong and does not emit any smoke upon starting or driving. The trans is very tight and does not grind or howl when shifting or driving. overall This jeep to Me seem real nice driver. The brake system has also been upgrade with a power booster assist witch is mounted on the drivers inner fender in engine bay. and seatbelts were installed front and rear.”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $1850. As Brett and JR note below, the battery box suggests the body is from a M-38. I lighted up the passenger side image using photoshop, but couldn’t spot any tool indents. I also tried lightening up the rear facing image, but couldn’t learn anything about the dashboard.
(10/01/2009) “1947 willys CJ2A jeep. Vehicle has been stored for past several years. New battery, wheel cylinders, and fuel pump. Engine runs and is drivable but not road worthy as yet. Has tow bar, PTO winch and trailer hitch. Engine and frame is civilian and the body is a used military replacement. No major rust, seats are in good condition.”

It looks good. The OD doesn’t always engage.
“1949 Willys Overland Jeepster Convertable. Painted w/in the last 5 years. 4 cylinder 134″ flathead engine rebuilt about 2 years ago. Top is in great condition. Kingpins replaced recently. Overdrive does not engage, but could be fixed and has worked previously. Family owned vehicle for over 40 years. Tires are fresh. Can email you more pics.”

“’54 Jeep. small block chevy it RUNS!!!, 3sp w/overdrive, 538 gears, 32 inch tires. minimul rust (I have fixed most of it and have floors and working on the rest. Intsalling new gas tank and fuel lines and seats and should be done with those soon. Its drivable now, but needs a few thing finished and I am working on them. I got this from the original owner. I listed it a few months ago whwn it was not running ans was rusty….now it is MUCH better!!”

Despite the paint job, this looks like a great price on a running CJ-3B.
“I have a 1954 willys cj3b jeep up for sale. The jeep is all original except the tires, bucket seats, roll bar and a few other little things. She starts runs and drives everytime, nevery have had any problems. It has the original 4 cylinder motor along with 3 speed tranny with the high and low. This looks like a fun jeep.
“1947 CJ-2A Willys Jeep. Has CJ-5 V6 (Buick) conversion. 5:38 axels, t-90 trans, s-18 transfer case. 12v. Body has been repaired over the years, not perfect. tires will need replaced. Full roll cage tied to frame. Windshield modified for one piece glass. Has extra leaves in springs and spring perch blocks. Frame is nice no rot. Will need work to pass inspection. New master cylinder, new wheel cylinders, new brake lines hard and soft. Original tank is good shape, needs hooked up. Lights need wired up. Runs drives stops. Good trail jeep as is. Clear Maryland title.”
Where else can you get a jeep for $450? Clearly this seller hasn’t been to ewillys!
