Builds: Leapin’ Lena & a Cab for sale

• CATEGORIES: Builds, CJ-2A This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  Kaweh says he’s asking $380/obo for the Cab, which includes a windshield, good glass, wipers, parts, etc.  It’s all there.  If you are interested, you can email him at ketminan-rad@jccscpa.com.

Recently, Kaweh used eWillys to find this 1951 CJ-3A in Osbourn, Idaho.  The owner named the jeep Leapin Lena.  She owned the jeep for 50 years and made Kaweh promise that he wouldn’t change the jeep’s name.

The jeep came with a top that Kaweh doesn’t want. He’s included some pics below.  He hasn’t determined a price yet, so if you are interested, drop a comment below and I’ll make sure he gets your information.

In addition, Kaweh is looking for a CJ-2A windshield.  If you have one and aren’t too far away from Missoula, drop a comment below.  Thanks!

About the top, Kaweh writes “The window on the driver side (not the driver door but the window in the cab itself) is cracked. Otherwise the cab is in great shape just needs some TLC and paint.”  Kaweh and the top are located in Montana. The windshield that is currently on the Jeep is part of the cab (you can see how upright it is installed).  The doors are in really good shape; even the insulation is still there.

A Jeep from the Phillipines

• CATEGORIES: Reader Stories This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Dexter wrote me recently about how a 2003 experience made him want to purchase an old military jeep.  The jeep shown below was one Dexter happened across in the Phillipines and is an interesting mix of different jeep parts.

“My name is Dexter Abellera, and I’m emailing your from Lodi, CA, about 30 minutes south of Sacramento. I came across your eWillys site, and I must say, I’ve been on it everyday for the past week!

I’m 33 years old. I was born in the Philippines, and migrated to Cali when I was 9. My dad was a Captain in the Philippine military back in the 70s and 80s, and I remember him driving us around in a Government-Issued Toyota Mini Landcruiser. Sure it wasn’t a real Jeep, but I just fell in loved with the open-top, go-anywhere driving.

When I was 18, I bought a new 1995 Jeep Wrangler. Loved it. Unfortunately, I was forced to sell it back in 2005 because my wife and I needed down payment to buy a home. I miss that damn thing a lot!

In 2003, I went on vacation in the Philippines–first time in years. My grandpa passed away four months later, and my dad finally told me some war stories of how my grandpa was one of the soldiers that walked the infamous Bataan Death March back in WWII. He also served time during the Korean War.

During my vacation, I came across this vintage WWII Willys [pics below] along the side of the road in Manila. I’m sure you better than anyone can tell what is original and what isn’t. Anyway, seeing the Jeep lit a fire within me to buy an old MB, GPW or M-38A1 . . . I guess in way to remember my grandpa as well my country’s involvement in the war. Who knows, he probably rode in one of these! 🙂

That’s me on the driver’s seat. 🙂 The owner is the old man with the green top.”

Kill the Bastards … Here’s an Interesting WWII Pic

• CATEGORIES: War Images This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: This photo appears in the September 27, 1943, issue of Life Magazine. It was the magazines’ “picture of the week” (pages 36/37) https://books.google.com/books?id=YFAEAAAAMBAJ&printsec=frontcover&source=gbs_ge_summary_r&cad=0#v=onepage&q&f=false … it’s described as an ACME Telephoto; no photograph name is associated with it.

====================

Bruce provided me a copy of this pic.  That’s a pretty intimidating sign.

The sign reads:

KILL THE BASTARDS!
Down this road marched one of the regiments of the united states army
Knights serving the Queen of battles
Twenty of their wounded in litters were bayoneted, shot and clubbed by the yellow bellies
KILL THE BASTARDS!

CJ-3A Bodies Alameda, CA **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: Body Parts, CJ-2A, CJ-3A This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $800

Note the bottom blue tub.  It has the custom dash that I’ve seen on 5 or 6 or jeeps from California.  Also, it appears that it doesn’t have a driver’s side gas inlet as a part of the original design.  Anyone know anything about these bodies?

“I have 2 1940’s willy’s tubs the one in the photo the grey one on top has fenders hood tub and windshield frame – needs grill and tailgate and the blue one on the bottum is just a tub I am willing to sell them together or apart please call.”
