Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “For Sale – Barn Find. 1954 M38A1 Willy’s Jeep. This rig was in bad shape. It sat for 5+ years. 12 volt. Original Engine. All oils and fluids changed. Front and rear driveshaft seals and gaskets replaced. Transfer case replaced before I purchased. Radiator rebuilt. Rebuilt floor boards. Rebuilt gas tank. New gas well in body. Rebuilt tool box. New windshield. Seats reupholstered. Carburetor rebuilt. New fuel pump. New alternator. Steering worm replaced. New Steering box seals (still leaks). New brakes and front wheel bearing. Lights work. Turn lights do not. Horn works. Temp gauge & AMP gauge work; other gauges and accessories do not. Have speedometer cable (not installed). This jeep starts good and runs good for being 68 years old. Steering does have some ‘drift’. Not show quality but I bet your neighbor doesn’t have one. Clear title. $6,400.00 US dollars. This Jeep is ‘for sale’ locally. I reserve the right to refuse any and all offers.”

“1956 Willys Jeep CJ3B. New electronic distributed and Solex Carburetor. Runs but still needs some TLC. Good deer lease vehicle. Gauges and lights work. Breaks lines are in good shape, but cylinders need to be rebuilt. 4×4 works. Spare tire is also included but not in the pictures. Winch is included.”

“This is a project and is priced at half of what I have invested.
I have to abandon the project due to a pending move. All the drivetrain has been professionally rebuilt and upgraded. T90, Dana 18 X case, overdrive, both axles. Frame is straight and free from cracks. Has been set up for a Kubota 2.2 turbo diesel. Upgraded brakes, upgraded steering, new tires. Nothing is missing. I was on the home stretch with this and doing final assembly.
I have the manual for the conversion and hardware bagged and tagged. Also have manual for the Kubota diesel.
I’m not willing to part out- yet- but we’ll see once the move date gets closer. Clean title.”
