This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (08/16/2020) This may well be a 1945 2A. Someone switched out the column shift and it an incorrect dash plate.

No year listed on this press photo that shows a slat grille MB being loaded into a Globemaster. The photo appears to have been ordered on July 2nd, 1947, but that’s likely not the date of the photo. My attempt to find the photo in a newspaper failed, but I did find a few other photos of jeeps and the Douglas C-74 Globemaster.

In the summer of 1946, a Globemaster was loaded with 15 jeeps. A few photos of the event made the newspapers. This first one appears to have an illustrated jeep on the elevator:

This article in the September 06, 1945, issue of the Daily News out of Los Angeles introduces the world to the new Globemaster. The bottom image shows two jeeps loaded next to one another.
This nice looking CJ-2A wasn’t restored to 100% original, but it sure looks nice and will provide owner Jane Bundy with a great vehicle for years to come. The Miller Brothers Hot Rod Barn in Wilkesboro, NC, did the work.
This undated article and photo from an unknown newspaper was posted to Facebook where Roger Martin spotted it. The “classy jeep” is driven by Lieut. Commander W. P. Tyler, USN, of Medium Seaplane Squadron Three. There were eighteen privately owned jeeps undergoing modifications. My guess is that the photo was taken post WWII given the jeeps were privately owned.

“This is a 1971 Jeep (Postal Jeep) running on top of a 1993 Suburban 4×4 Big Block drivetrain… This is an unfinished project that I’m not going to have time to finish… The mechanicals are done and it runs and drives… Strong 454ci engine with TBI fuel injection and custom stand alone computer and engine wiring… Heavy duty 4L80E Trans… Dual exhausts… Power steering… Hydroboost brake system…
The Suburban drivetrain was from the limited edition version with the 1-Ton suspension and was low mileage… The whole thing is covered in Aluminum attached with hundreds of rivets… I have full pictures of it being built including pics the the removal/installation of the Suburban and Jeep bodies… Title is clean and registered on a non-op as a 1971 Jeep (so no smog)… This thing has had lots of hand fabrication work done to it that for the price I’m asking I will never get back!… If you’re looking for a completely unique project that is cheap and had most of the hard stuff done then my loss is your gain… There is a lot more done to it than you see in the pictures!
