1952 M-38A1 Dually Spring Mills, PA **SOLD**

UP”DATE: **SOLD** Was $5500.

I don’t see many M-38A1s with dually’s and the extra fender.

“This is a really neat 1952 Willys M38 A1 Korean War piece of History. It has the extremely rare dual rear wheel conversion, it still has the machine gun mount brackets in the rear, it has the blackout lighting, and it has a PTO mounted underneath. The Jeep starts and drives, but it needs a complete restoration before it is roadworthy. I got it from an estate, so I know no history on it, I was planning on redoing it, but it is more of a project than I can handle. For someone that has the knowledge, tools, and resources to redo this, it would be an amazing addition to any collection. The price is as low as it is going to go. So many people have said they’re coming to get it, or have tried to lowball me, that this is at. The price is $5,500 firm.”

“WillysJeep CJ-3B produced by Willys-Overland in 1953, Willys-Overland was sold to the Kaiser-Frazer Corporation, who adopted the Willys Motors name until 1964. The CJ-3B, a transitional model that narrowed the gap between the CJ and M38-A1, while similar in many ways to the 2A and 3A, had one major difference: the new F-Head Hurricane engine, which delivered more horsepower, but demanded a higher hood, a structural feature that also distinguished it from earlier CJs. The new Hurricane engine delivered a marked improvement in performance, with larger intake valves in the head and increased fuel economy.
I have owned this jeep for 2 years, fixed a few minor issues and now I am looking to make room for another vehicle. The vehicle is a total rebuild which if you come over and check it out, listen to the engine and take it for a spin, you’ll see it is in great shape, all around. Asking $24,000 OBO”

Blaine spotted this Converto trailer for sale.

“We are offering a 1945 USA Converto trailer used by the Army and Navy, as well as Marine Corps in World War Two WW2.

We were in gold country, in central California, hunting for a few things to bring home to the shop when we found this lovely Converto trailer, which is complete, and original. It even has both of the original BF Goodrich military issue tires, which are extremely rare.

Date plates are intact, and only needs paint, wiring, and the canvas bag for the front. If we replace these ourselves, the trailer will list at full retail value- $2,500”

1957 Park ‘Jeep’ Dealership St. Louis Park, MN

• CATEGORIES: Features, Old Images • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: As JoeB points out (and I missed), the van is an Economy 2WD Deliver Chassis with a Montpelier body conversion (vs. the Boyer version).

http://www.ewillys.com/2013/12/02/economy-delivery-van-image-comparison/#more-150114

=====================

Several folks shared this photo with me. It was published by Paul Swanson on Facebook. HIs family used to own the dealership. The fourth vehicle in the row looks to be an unusual model of the economy/package/delivery van. You’ll note it lacks front hubs, suggesting it was 2WD. Some were 2WD and some 4WD vans: http://www.ewillys.com/2020/07/06/photo-of-an-unusual-boyerstown-built-2wd-delivery-van/

Paul dates the photo to 1957, but to me the FC-150 on the left and the first FC-150 in the row of jeeps look like they are not narrow tracks, which would put the photo later than 1957. Moreover, I cannot find any ads for Park Jeep earlier than the summer of 1958.

Paul indicated that he will post better images of the van.

From the February 02, 1960, issue of the Minneapolis Star. Strangely, I could not locate any ads earlier than the summer of 1958. So, it’s unclear to me when the dealership opened. You’ll note this ad mentions an Economy van; maybe the one in the pic above never sold.
