This has some interesting features.  The wide rimmed fiberglass body with no tailgate is unusual.  I’ve only seen the wide rimmed fiberglass bodys with tailgates.  The exhaust feature is something I haven’t seen either.  It appears to allow the drive to automatically switch between a direct header versus a muffler.  My concern with this jeep is the roll cage attached to the rear wheel wells instead of the frame.

“1946 Willys Jeep for sale. Great condition. Runs great. 2 Wheel Drive. Chevy 350 small block built by Hines Race Engines in Cleves, OH.  Automatic transmission, fiberglass body. Dual Flowmaster exhaust with electric exhaust cut-outs. New windshield, Daytona tires are like new. Edlebrock carburetor.  Moroso valve covers and air filter. 373 rear end.  Five point racing harness in the driver’s seat.  Some very small chips in the paint which are shown in the pictures.  I have pictures, drawings, and receipts from the build.  Mileage on title lists 75,000 but actual mileage is unknown.  Light weight and fast.”

Here’s a fiberglass CJ-2A that also has a stainless steel grille and windshield.  This has a variety of updates.

“You are bidding on (1) 1946 Willys Jeep CJ2A.  I am the second owner of this vehicle.  The original owner worked on this jeep for 2 1/2 years. He has built many Willys Jeeps in the past. the entire chassis was disassembled Media blasted, boxed and repaired.  All welds are 100% pentrated TIG. The front of the chassis was removed and built up with a donor chassis from a jeep CJ5 donor. and 2″x2″ bar Stock.  The chassis was then painted with 2 coats of POR-15 and chassis coat.  A Rancho 2-1/2″ lift kit was installed along with an additional 1/2″ lift and greasable zirks for a total of 3″ lift.  This will easily clear 33″x12.5 tires.  The rear axle is a 1959 CJ5 Dana 44 that was rebuilt and in the front is the stock dana 27 that was rebuilt.  the gear ratio’s are 5:38.  the T-90 tranny and model 18 transfer case along with bearings, seals, and clutch were also rebuilt.  All new brakes front and rear as well as custom bent brake lines, rubbers, and a dual master cylinder kit.  It has the L-138 Flat head motor in it that was rebuilt and bored .040 over. it runs beautifullly.  It has also an aftermarket Solex carb and custom air intake kit.  it has been converted to a 12 volt system with a brand new alternator.  the body is all fiberglass built by AJ’s Body….”

It looks in excellent shape.  I didn’t see any of these classic hoods at the swap meet (or they had already sold).  Having Don’s old card in the glass is a cool benefit.

“Vintage Aftermarket Jeep Hood for CJ2A CJ3A M38 MB & GPW. This “Bobcat hood” is a real find. The fiberglass has no cracks and the hinge works good. You can tell its vintage because there is a business card in the glass for (Don Prine’s) Prine’s Jeep Service and the phone # is JU 4-6648. So I would guess 60’s or before. The hump can give your air filter more room if you have a V-6 or V-8 under your hood. And it looks good..

UPDATE:  The price has dropped to $3000 (but only for this weekend — Nov 1st & 2nd 2008).

This CJ-2A sand jeep sports the very rare parkette fiberglass body.  Only a handful of these bodies were made (At one time I was told only about 10 of them).  It sounds like it has some good parts, but it will take some work to convert it to 4wd.

“1941 cj2a military jeep that has a a full fiberglass body so you dont have to worry about rust or dents on this 67 year old jeep! it has a stout good running 350 small block with a 700r transmission. the tread on the tires are very good and i would say have conservitivly 85% of their life left. i just put a brand new radiator on it with all new verrry expensive rad. hosing which is actually 150psi petroleum trasfer tubing so it will never break or pop from heat. 971-645-1635”

This appears to be a parkette racing body.  The front of the frame looks a little twisted.

It says it’s never been used, but it looks like the front clip was ready to be installed.  If it is in as good as shape as advertised, then this is a great price.

Here's a few pictures of the Body and Grille I grabbed while down in Springfield, Oregon a couple of days ago. I need to get a few better pics of it.  I've got it listed for $450 on Craigslist.  

The outside of the body is in excellent shape and would make a great racing shell for PNW4WDA racing. The interior of the body is well designed and strong and could make a good jeeping/street body, however the plywood attached to the bottom is bad in spots, but could be fixed pretty easily.  Also, the firewall has an extra large opening that needs to be closed.  Otherwise, the body looks straight and is pretty light.
