Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Apparently, this was an electric company jeep. The Keonig hardtop looks like it has kept the body in good shape. Note the early Free-Lock hubs.

“Electric Company Service Willys Jeep …This vehicle sold on Bill of Sale…No Title…But is in superb condition. This is a 1950 Jeep CJ3A with a Koenig Iron Works hard top that has rear sliding windows and roll up on the doors all in proper working order, this Jeep is equipped with a 100% bolt on hydrologic snow plow with a 6’ blade that works as it should. Wind shield is not broken and all glass good with the exception of a crack in rear right glass. This vehicle is NOT rusty and very strait and original . Will provide pictures with the spots of rust it does have. This vehicle was meticulously serviced and well cared for!
Jeep comes with: L head factory four cylinder engine. 3 Speed transmission. Spicer 18 twin stick transfer case. Factory gauges ALL working. New Diehard battery 8v. Carter carburetor. Turn signals and seat belts. Original Nomenclator plates. Rear snow chains. Factory horn that works. CB antenna base. Side mount spare tire holder. Brakes work well. 5.38 gears in differentials. Jeep does not leak but hydraulics on plow have slight leak. Smokes on start up . Has heater with fan switch that works intermittently. All fluids and spark plugs are fresh. Lights and wiper not operating at the time of this ad but plan on looking into them.”

“1963 Jeep CJ5 old plow jeep. Runs and drives but has zero brakes. PA paperwork in hand. Rare Ramsey dual Outlet PTO for front and rear winches or Farm implements. Power take off does work. Jeep gas tank rotted out a few years ago. Is running off of a small tractor gas tank under the hood. Does need lots of metal work as there’s not much floor left. Frame seems solid. Plow works good.”

“1956? Jeep Willys, inline 4 cylinder. The Jeep will not crank but does not appear to be locked up in any way. The wheels turn, the gears shift, and the steering wheel turns. The engine does not appear to be locked up but that cannot be verified. Most all of the parts of the vehicle appear to be there but many parts are loose. The ignition is not wired up. No keys. The battery is 1-2 years old. A 1-2 year old wiring harness will be provided but is not installed. The tires hold air but not sure for how long. This needs to be hauled away on a trailer. It is sold as-is. There is no title. A bill of sale will be written to the buyer in person at our local bank once the funds are deposited into our bank account. This is a restoration project vehicle. It does not run and will take a lot of work to get it road ready. The price is firm, no other offers will be responded to. No trades. I hope this finds a good home with someone who can restore it. It has good bones, it just needs a lot of work to get it running again”
Blaine shared this CJ-5, noting the hardtop looked unusual, which the rear of it does. After some research, I felt it is a Koenig Jiffy Cab 520 for the CJ-5 (see an Aug 1957 brochure here). This is the first time I’d noticed that the Jiffy Cab 520 had an unusually wide rear door with slim sides (not room for side windows in the back).

“The jeep is pretty-much untouched and original (except for the paint). Last year before AMC bought Jeep. It has the factory 3.7l Dauntless V6 motor, three-speed transmission and factory PTO winch. Split bench seat.
The motor is strong with as-new oil pressure. A prior owner put a 3.8l intake on it so it can use the Delco electronic ignition. Dual exhaust, as new. Transmission good as are the brakes. I hate antique cooling systems, so a new radiator and heater core. Headlight replacements should be in today (3rd), LEDs with glass faces.
The paint job was for protection since it came to the coast, mediocre base coat, clear coat. The hard top was bought when the Jeep was new. Neither roof or the body show rust, it came from Talent, very dry country. It has a mis-matched tire, and needs little jobs for it to be the daily driver.
This is an old Jeep, old school. No power steering, just a big steering wheel. No power brakes or cruise control. Early Jeeps are strong and reliable, but have little in common with modern Jeeps.
I am willing to consider trades, even non-vehicle, if the trade seems right, or $6k. I have varied interests.”

“1948 CJ2A Jeep it is in go devil run ready condition with its original 134ci flat head engine. It has a modern high torque starter and 12v alternator, Front and rear differential lockers, front axle has early WARN locking hubs and has been upgraded to spicer u-joint axle shafts. The Jeep also has a WARN overdrive. The brakes have been upgraded to 11in self adjusting drums from a 70/80 Cj, 3/16th plate rock sliders and step reinforcements, all lights work, large shaft Dana 18, m38 folding rear seat, has 5 new 7.00×16 proper biasply tires. This Jeep has been on many trips in the last few years, been used as a daily driver in the summer and has done lots of back road driving with my family.
Has an original aluminum hard top and is ready for winter.
Can be combined with the other Jeep parts I have for sale.”
