Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “L-134 Go Devil motor. Model 100 Koenig PTO winch, Sears aluminum full cab. General David Bradley Ben Hur type trailer. Jeep drives good. Clutch, brakes, transmission and 4 wheel drive all work as they should. All gauges, heater, lights, blinkers, wind shield wipers work. Motor has a miss at idle. “Original hardtop AND doors from a 1963 Willy’s CJ5. I believe it will fit any older CJ5. Original white paint. No rust other than light surface corrosion where paint has been dinged. A small dent in passengers side rear corner.
Pictures of doors will be supplied for serious buyer. They are in the garage rafters and I will have to dig them out.
If you happen to be doing a restoration of a CJ5 and need a motor and tranny I will have the excellent running original F134 motor along with 3 speed transmission available in the near future and would make a great package deal for everything. Motor is 100% Complete and is running still in the vehicle. We could drive it to show how well it runs. It would also come with a brand new radiator, hoses, air cleaner etc.”
Given the hard top, there seems to be value here.

Fun, running, driving and functional, but sold AS IS. 16,528 indicated miles, but overall mileage is unknown. 3 speed floor mounted transmission shifts well. All gauges and horn work.
Valuable accessories include a scarce cold weather fibreglass cab, towbar, Warn overdrive and lockout hubs gives a top cruising speed of 60mph. Turn signals, roof mounted air conditioning, defroster, Am/Fm and CB radio with mount and antenna, dual mirrors and extra stop lights for safety. New June 2019 battery. 2” receiver trailer hitch, dual G.I. type gas cans and spare tire with mounts included as well. A trunk, accessible from the tailgate, has been installed instead of a rear seat. The loose rear seat frame, comes with the vehicle.
This Jeep has a military history, supposedly being an Air Force “follow me” vehicle in Greenland, but this can not be confirmed. The body in good shape, not a rustbucket. A great running, practical, hunting, or fishing, classic, flat fendered Jeep. If restored with Air Force markings, it would be a scarce variation of a military Jeep.

“1948 Willys Jeep CJ2 with rare military aluminum top with upgraded engine. Engine is a 1950 170 (2.8L) I6 @85hp Studebaker engine number #778167. New tires, and recent military paint job. This rig is ready for the outdoors in any season. The Arctic Top was made by Willys for the M38 military jeeps in 1950 and is considered the best top ever made for that era jeep. Floor pans and rust areas repaired. Tires are Hillner Directional mud and snow 6.50 x16LT 6ply on original rims. Front seat belts and ball hitch have been added, however the rest is stock 1948 Willys CJ2. Recent repairs include brake hydraulic system, motor mount, charging system, carburetor rebuild, fuel pump and battery cables.
This is offered as fund raiser for Western Antique Air and Auto Museum. It may be insprcted and tested at 1600 Air Museum Rd in Hood River, Or. Asking 7200, or test and make offer.”
Listed as as 1946 Cj-2A, it looks more like a CJ-3A. If the top only has surface rust, then there could be value here.
