Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “fiberglass flatfender race jeep stretched, coil over suspension narrowed dana 44 rack and pinion steering , cage nhra certified, new paint ,new wheels and tires, msd 7 ignition new pro shifter, new fuel pumps,new tach and gauges, new painless wiring harness still in box 360 amc block, 401 crank and rods, bored 80 over rollerrockers aluminum intake,oil system added, hardblocked , new carb, 727 trans needs rebuilt,jeep was torn down stretched engine plate put in body repainted and no time to finish will sacrifice for 5000 firm please no lookey loos serious buyers only”

This looks like a strong build that includes various stainless parts.

(05/26/2010) Here’s a nicely updated, yet mostly stock CJ-2A.
“1948 Willys Jeep: Fully restored including stock running gear, L4-134 4-cylinder flathead engine, Warner 3-speed T-90 transmission, Spicer Model 18 2-speed transfer case and Spicer Models 18 & 25 front and rear differentials. Accesories include roll bar, WARN winch, spare tire, locking storage box, Sunbrella top, CD player, CB radio. Always garaged, primarily used for local 4th of July parade anymore. No trades.”

“1945 Jeep CJ-2a, 400 HP 350, Edelbrock carb and intake less than 500 miles on motor. Power steering with tilt. 20 gal fuel tank over rear axel, rear axle Dana one ton 44 with locker, racing seats, 4 spd. quick ratio sm 24, rear receiver, newer 33″ mud tires, Loud and fast! I love it, my wife and kids don’t, so I don’t use it.”

My only experience with a 400 was the one dad installed in our motorhome. That motor easily moved the motorhome along with a trailer with my on the back of it. I can only imagine that much power in the jeep itself!

“This little sucker is COOL, with a capital K! This is a running registered and stopping Willys Jeep FC-150. Rare little gem that she is, she is the last car I want to sell of the many cars I will be selling to meet this months mortgage, so the price is more than I think it would probably sell for locally unless it went on ebay, but I really dont want to sell it. It does have bad rear cab sorners, and some rust in the floor of the bed, and some at the flat floor areas and door corners etc, but overall is really really cool. I wouldn’t do a dan g thing to her except tinker and drive. She is a blast to drive around town, though she isnt super fast do to really low gears , and the anemic 134? 4 banger. Shoot me offers, but keep in mind I really want to keep it, so I am going to try an sell the others cars cheap first. Willy’s or Willys works also.”
