Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1942 Willys Jeep. It was bought as a project car and I have put many hours into it. It is getting very close to being done but I know longer have the time and more so I am moving to Nevada this weekend and I can’t take it with me. I have the original bumper and windshield as well as over $1500 in new and used parts that will go along with it. I also have a soft top for it. Please contact me ASAP if you are at all interested.”

“1962 Jeep FC-170. This is a bone stock truck with the exception of the wheels and tires. Has had alot of work done to bring it back from the dead, runs and drives as well as an old jeep would. 226 Super Hurricane flathead 6 engine, T90 3 speed trans, T18 Transfer case. Since owning this I have cleaned and flushed the fuel system, rebuilt carb, rebuilt the rear brakes with all new parts, including new model backing plates to be able to move the E-brake to the wheels instead of the drum behind the transfer case. Brake is still on transfer case, this was done for later powertrain upgrade. Read diff has had the posi unit rebuilt with OEM clutches, and new axle bearings. Front wheel cylinders are replaced and a new master cylinder. New water pump and clutch. I hate to let this go, I was looking forward to putting in a modern powertain and having a completely unique truck to use, but priorities have changed.”
The Utah Bureau spotted this interesting find. It appears the seller has had to drop the price from the original $4500. It looks like it sports an aftermarket dash. The seller indicates it has been driven little and there’s some ‘project’ involved, however it sure looks good on the outside! It also has on overdrive.
“Rock Crawler – ’54 military jeep with V8 conversion. 307 Chevy with 327 steel crank and forged flat pistons, 487 heads. Warn all range over-drive, 538 gears, dual Flow Master exhaust. Full roll cage, 4 point harness – 33” tires. Interior has been redone. Runs strong but hasn’t been drives for years. A good “project” Jeep. Call Jack @ 617-697-5745″

I think those are doors on the hood rather than a hood mod. The jeep looks good.

“I purchased this beautiful 4×4 1947 Willys Jeep for $10,000 several years back and it has just sat in my garage. I took it in and redid the carburetor and it runs like a dream. It has a Chevy V8 engine with lots and lots of power. As you can see in the pictures, it has been specially restored. The customized stainless steel dash and beautiful interior with reinforced steel plating is a joy to ride in. Coupled with a dual exhaust, it’s one hot little ride (it also comes with a CB). “This Willys is not prefect but damn good. It could not run better. Straight body. Windless wench on front bumper. I’m the 4th owner and am friends with 2 of the other 3. was bought new in 1946 by the Childress Texas fire department (that’s why it’s red) and was retired in 1972 and was in there 4th of july parade yearly (thats when the wheels were put on) and then sold at auction to my buddy in 1992 when it was brought to Friday Harbor were it has been since. I drive it all the time and keep it well maintained. Parts are easy to find and pretty cheap. A new carb was only $125, in the box. Driving with the windshield down is legal with eye protection, and is a blast. Have all paper work, parts catalog and service manual. I’ve been pricing Willys for the 4 years and believe this to be a fair price. Am happy to answer questions. If your looking for a fun ride that gets attention, this is it. Everyone seems to have a Willys story, why not be one of them.”
