Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. No Motor, no windshield Glass.
“new paint,new top,rhino lined inside,clean engine bay,good tires.Needs a windshield and a motor.The jeep has lots of parts for a four cylinder.the jeep does have the t-90 trans with the dana 18/20 transfer case and i have a turbo 350 with a 203 transfer case to go with it incase somebody wanted to small block it.”

My sense is that this has some updates to the drive train, but i can’t tell for sure. The seller will take some unusual trades.
“For Sale 46 Willy’s Jeep, Good running Chevy 153 Iron Horse engine. New brakes, shocks, glass, rubber. Front and Rear Lockers, Roll bar, Custom Bikini Top, Hard Top, Easy out Custom Rear Back Seat with Seat Belts, Hitch and Tow Bar. Will let go for $4,000 or $3,500 less wheels and tires.”

This might be the same one that was for auction on eBay.
“This 1963 DJ-3 has been restored to better than new condition and is beyond perfect in every respect. It is powered by Jeeps rugged little 134 cubic inch inline four-cylinder engine with three-speed manual transmission. More importantly it is festively finished in Flaming Pink and White with a Pink and White striped surrey top and spare tire cover. It is cheeky cute cheerful and fabulously restored.”
It’s a good looking GPW.
“Originally purchased privately in January of 1983 in Heightstown, New Jersey. Has been garage kept since purchase, and believed to have been prior to also. It was primarily used for parades, re-enactments and static displays. Entire body and interior is original, including seat covers, ID plates, and windshield. Body was stripped down and repainted. Some additional body work and mechanical work required to get into show condition. Still has 6 volt system, may need new wiring harness. Generator rebuilt in late 1980’s. Motor rebuilt at time of purchase. Shimmy in front end when driven and small stone chip in driver’s side of windshield.”

This has a large number of good looking mods. The body is a bit beat up as if it’s seen a few trails (and there’s nothing wrong with that).

The Willys sits on American 15×10 wheels, 33×14 Super Swamper TSL bogger tires and is powered by a Heeney Racing built 230ci odd fire V6 engine. The Dauntless V6 is equipped with a mild performance cam, headers, Stinger Magna-Pulse electronic ignition, a Kenney Bell intake manifold & Holley 390cfm 4bbl carburetor.”

This seller had their jeep appraised at $22,000.
“1946 Willys Overland CJ2A, Jeep, Original, Stock, Like New, After WW2 Willys tried to sell Jeeps as tractors, They added color options and a PTO on the rear. This Jeep is just like the one on the cover of the 1946 Willys sales brochure. Pasture Green with yellow wheels. You could not find a nicer one. The Jeep was appraised by High Performance Enterprises in Moses Lake Wa. @ $22000,00 dollars. I will look at all offers. Vin # is 59122, Odometer 53803, 4 cylinder 60 hp@3600 rpm engine, 3 speed tran. 2 speed transfer case, 4 wheel hyd brakes, pto,”
Some nice turbine rims on this jeep. It looks great.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6500.
The $6500 is a buy it now price on eBay. Apparently the Seller has 2 other offers made via eBay as well. This appears to be on the boarder between a VEC and an EC CJ-2A. The seller is only the 2nd owner. Too bad a floor shifter was swapped into it. It looks quite nice.
“Here is an original 46 willys cj2a that I bought 7 years ago off the original owener who purchased the jeep new in 1946 and used it on his farm in Easton CT. The jeep is still in running condition after all those years and only has 27000 miles. the way you see it is pretty much the way I bought it, I replaced the fuel pump, plugs , and plug wires. The jeep starts right up and will even start with the original hand crank! The motor at times has a skip to it, so it may need the carb rebuilt eventually but does not smoke or knock. The jeep drives great and will do almost 50mph it handles good and does not shimmy at any speed. It is really fun speed around back roads in this little jeep! At some point it was converted from column shift to floor shift, it is still 6 volt and has its original wiring harness….”

This is a beautiful CJ-2A, no doubt about that. However, if I’m going to spend $19k for a CJ-2A, I would prefer it be restored accurately. Here’s a few minor issues and thoughts. If this is a 1945 CJ-2A (only 1,824 made), then I’d expect the serial number to be pretty low. So, with that (and with help from the Cj-2A Page website) here’s a few detail issues:

“This is a 1945 Willys Jeep CJ-2A. It is owned by mother in-law who has owned it for almost 20 years. She is the second owner. The first owner was an elderly potato farmer in Manhattan, Montana. She has kept this CJ-2A in her garage under a sheet for the past 15 years. It was restored in the mid 1990’s and has been driven about 100 miles per year since. It has the original engine though it has been rebuilt. It is a pale green color insode and out. I have driven this Willys and can assure you it starts right up, doesn’t smoke, and shifts through all of the gears smoothly. It is 100% rust free. This is a very clean, straight Willys that has been very well cared for. $19000”

“his is a 3-speed manual transmission 4-wheel drive Willys Jeep. It has a 4 cylinder flat head engine. It has power steering with tilt wheel. It has a radio with cassette player. All lights work, including signals. It has seatbelts. Brakes are good. The tires are 31 X 10.50 – 15, all-terrain, with chrome rims. It has a roll bar & the windshield FOLDS DOWN (see photos). There are chrome steps. also a new steel body. Vehicle has been completely restored, & drives good. Jeep has about 1000 miles since restoring. The jeep has a minor oil leak. No warranty or delivery. Vehicle is located in Pineville, Louisiana. “
