Nice looking CJ-2A.  It looks like there isn’t a tailgate, but I can’t tell for sure from the pics.

“1947 Willys CJ2-A. Semi-Pro restoration about 10 years ago, clear & clean title. Orginal L-Head motor, 3 speed on the floor. 4×4 (works great too!) Nice 31×15 inch General tires w/ rancho shocks. What Ive added (since Ive owned it). Brand new speedo (shows two hundred sixty-some miles)Sun Pro Tach, Cobra CB Radio w/ 102 rear bumper mounted antenna. AIWA Cd player w/ MP3 jack & speakers (NOT permanant – only zip-tied). Electric radiator fan w/ switch on dash. Front bumper mount off road lights (easily removable). Oil change at start of summer, new plugs, just replaced the entire fuel line from tank to fuel bowl (and new fuel filter). She does run very well, however she will not do a DIME over 55mph (and thats pushing it!)…”

This rare Ford GP is listed at £17,500, which currently converts to $24,500.  It was listed back in June of 2008 on the Willysjeep.com site, which is a UK based jeep site. I assume it’s still for sale as it’s still listed on their website for sale.  There are also a GPW, some MBs and some Hotchkiss jeeps for sale there as well.

1948_cj2a_italySomething appears to have been done to the bumper, but otherwise this looks like it could make a great, pretty easy restoration project.

“This is a very collectable 1948 CJ2A Jeep Willys- I am firm on the price of this 60 year old vehicle. It runs good and has the original engine. I have done some restoration which includes:

This appears to be in pretty good condition. The seller is trying to claim mileage of only 5800, but I’m very sure that’s a replacement speedometer (as are several of the other gauges).  I suspect the front turn signals/pking lights are after market as well.

“What an amazing vehicle!  This jeep was given to a Tennessee Forrest Ranger as a retirement gift, and he held onto it unitl I bought it  3 months ago!  It runs out really well…has new tires…a working original WENCH and PTO GEARS underneath for FARM ATTACHMENTS… The engine is a HURRICANE 4 cyl with 3 speed transmission…4WD…5800 ORIGINAL miles and the ORIGINAL PAINT, as well…I’ve been through many jeeps, and I have to say that I’ve never seen another like this!  it’s truly ONE-OF-A-KIND!”

“Custom made fiberglass top (Removeable) Steel doors(Removeable) New wheel cyls,master cyl,steel brake lines brake shoes.new tires,700 miles on them .Moved gas tank to rear,new gas line .FOUR wheel drive is in very good shape,front wheel lockouts I added a front steering dampener, Drives good for the age it is,goes down the road good.Motor is a 1973 pinto 2000 cc motor,Original willys 3sp trans&drivetrain,clutch is in good shape.Body  was patched up,they did good job.Heater is old add on with new core,homemade windshield defroster,Dual two speed wipers.Under carrage painted chassie black.Carb  choke needs fixed,after warm runs good.HAS 6ft old style meyers plow,(not power angle)Besides the choke the only problem I know of is on transfer case PTO yoke seal bad.THIS JEEP IS FOR SELL LOCALLY SO AUCTION MAY END EARLY.”

I was searching for an image of original CJ-3A gauges when i stumbled upon this article.  Both of these are well modified, good looking road and trail jeeps.  One of the more interesting features of the ‘Oklahoma Green’ Jeep is the number of gauges that are installed.  One Bad Apple certainly has an usual paint job.

Here’s 2 excerpts from an Off Road Adventures Article; each one discuss a little bit about each jeep:

oklahoma_greenOklahoma Green: “… Below the CJ3A Willys’ windshield is a dashboard that would be more than adequate in a J3 Super Cub airplane of the same vintage. The aircraft-like dash sports a full compliment of gauges: fuel, fuel pressure, oil pressure, oil temp, water temp, vacuum, and air pressure gauges along with a voltmeter, hourmeter, and altimeter by Hobbs. A Lev-O-Gauge rounds out the impressive array. Lights and buzzers backup the critical gages. From the dash, Ken can switch on the fuel pump, fast idle solenoid, headlights, heater, and winch. Indicator lights report the status of 4WD, seat belts, ARB, emergency brake, and air compressor…. ”

With 4.88 gears, the final crawl ratio is 80:1. The front axle is a Dana 30 with an ARB Air Locker and disk brakes. The rear axle is a Dana 44 with a Detroit Locker. Four-inch lift springs, an off-road track bar, and Rancho 5000 Shocks control 33×12.50 BFG Mud Terrain T/As …..”

UPDATE:  A reader reports this has been sold.

This appears to be a very nice rig and I think it’s a very good value given it’s got a stainless steel chrome windshield. I’m pretty sure the seller means sm420 tranny.  Interestingly, the very top pic on the bulletin board shows an external fan attached to the outside of the grille.   I don’t know if that’s a new feature or an old one, but it would suggest there might be cooling problems.

“Built in April of 1961. Engine was rebuilt several years ago and runs better than when new. Transmission and transfer case are in great shape and the 4×4 is fully functioning. The body goes like this: Windshield frame is rusty but I have a replacement that goes with the deal.  Hood is good, rightside fender is good, left side fender has some rust but I also have a nice replacement fender that goes with the deal. All the steering and suspension is good and road worthy….”
