Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. UPDATE: This Fire Jeep Blitz Wagon sold for $14,805 on eBay.
“These trucks were made in old forge ny by two gentleman there. Army Armstrong who is since deceased and Al Brussels who still resides in Old Forge, NY. They were made on multiple chassis but the earliest on the jeep chassis. The brand was “blitz buggy” fire apparatus . Not sure why or where that blitz wagon decal on the one listed came from. Many variants can be seen in the old forge fd 100th anniversary book as they were commonly demonstrated at old forge drill school which still exists. A similar picture and some history of the sister truck is on the cj3b page as bill Meyer tells the story of how he obtained his.” (read more about these trucks at the bottom of this post)
This same truck was auctioned back in Sept 2013 on eBay, but didn’t sell:
“3/4 ton class fire truck. Truck was used in the Alcoa Aluminum plant in Badin NC. Truck has siren, red lights and water pumper. No collision damage. No rust through. Body is in very good condition.
6,048 miles. The vehicle does run. It was last driven in Christmas parades several years back and has been in dry storage since. It will need some tune up attention to drive. Fluids are still in the engine. The carburetor may need to be cleaned and the fuel tank may need to be cleaned. We believe the tires are original.
It is original 6 volt.
Estimate 300 gallon water tank.
2 manual hose reels with hose hannay.
2½” fill line with hose
2½” discharge parts
Water pump is PTO (operated under water tank)?”

“67′ Jeep 80 % original. 54K miles very clean. 226 Dauntless Buick V6 engine, newer tires Runs great. Clean title, runs great! Pretty solid, but does have some rust. Mechanically very sound. Asking $3500.00 OBO”

I don’t see and drain holes. It looks solid.
“I have a 1948 willys jeep CJ2a with the 134” “Go Devil” engine, T-90 transmition, Dana 30 axles with 5.38 gears. The jeep is in great shape for its age with a straight body and no rust damage. It has a new battery and a new exhaust manifold. The jeep has a tow bar setup and the factory spare tire. Asing $6500 obo.”

“Running 1948 Willys jeep CJ2A. Original Go devil 4 cylinder engine. This jeep is very solid. It has surface rust only accept For the bottom of the tail gate (see picture). All of the gauges work properly, the brake master cylinders, wheel cylinders, brake pads,rubber brake lines, axle seals, radiator hoses and thermostat are new. It starts runs and shifts as it should. The interior panels have been Por/15ed. Don’t let the pics fool you. It is actually a pretty strait body. You can drive it as it is or no that every thing works properly for a full restoration. This Willys is located in Canon City Colorado thai is an hour south of Co Springs or 2 hours south of Denver.”

(12/26/2013) It’s missing the parking brake, but otherwise looks solid.
“1951 m38- rebuilt transmission, transfer case, new clutch, new pilot shaft, throwout bearing and 4 new universal joints. New fuel tank and sending unit. all new guages. new speedometer cable with stock guage. new emergency brake handle, cable, shoes and drum. been converted to 12 volts. frame was under coated years ago and we started cleaning it off-no rust through. engine runs smooth and does not burn oil or over heat. current registration and street legal. rifle rack is available with garand -if wanted. call for more details or photos.”

“Totally restored 1945 Willy MB. Engine completely rebuilt by machine shop, Transmission rebuilt, new transfer assembly, new gas tank and fuel lines, New brakes and bearings, new brake lines. New radiator. Many new parts. Windshield has a few cracks but I can replace this for the next owner. Fully titled. Drives good”
