UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

Marc spotted this jeep. It has a good story.

1946-cj2a-navy-littleton-co

“I’ve had this great running little jeep for several years.  I’m thinking I may want to pursue a different hobby so it may be time for my Jeep to move to a new home.  I purchased this from a friend of mine (WWII aircraft mechanic) that used it at Centennial Airport to pull vintage airplanes around the hanger.  The reported history is it was originally purchased by the US Navy in Hawaii and used as a shore patrol or similar right after the war.  Although there were many Army jeeps in the area, the Navy purchased a few right after the war directly from local dealers (sounds like a mini-stimulus program).  I verified this info from a WWII Jeep forum on the web called G503.com.  In any event, the story goes it was in military service for a few months but then was surplused and ended up in New Mexico.  There are brass plaques attached that reference 1946 dates of service.  It spent the 50s-70s or so there until it was purchased by a local, well known construction company CEO.  It ended up at Centennial Airport here in Colorado and WWII veteran guys and that is where I found it.  Long story short (well, kind of short), I ended up with it.   I have used it to run into town, pick up kids from school, parades, and even taken it from the bottom to the top of Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park and even on the highest paved road in America.  Although she was breathing heavy at the top, she made it without missing a beat.  The bottom line is this little guy never left me stranded even during high-altitude testing!  It’s been kept inside for at least the last 20 years and hasn’t seen off road use.

1952 M-38A1 + Trailer Poultney, VT eBay

• CATEGORIES: M-38A1, trailer • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

The bidding starts at $9000. This appears to have the wrong grille for a 1952.  However, on the sign on the front bumper it reads 1953. So that might explain why it lacks the grille, because it’s actually a ’53 model.

“Totally rebuilt engine (less than 1500 miles), new tires and tubes, new canvas top and seats. Many more new and spare parts. Body has 33K miles. Engine has less than 1200 miles.”

1956 DJ-3A Buffalo, NY **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: DJ-3A • TAGS: , , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

Here’s a DJ-3A in great shape. Note the frame is purple.

“First of all,I must start by saying that this NOT a post office jeep,. In 1955 &1956 Willys put out this vehicle & called it a Jeep Dispatcher / Delivery vehicle ,ideal for use in congested metropolitan areas. To me it’s just a cool little jeep. This jeep had a frame off restoration a couple years back,at that time the original owner changed the transmission from a manual 3 speed synchromesh to a turbo 350 automatic with a 6 volt system. The original transmission is included, every nut &bolt was saved just incase to switch it back. The jeep is in great shape & runs good. Just had it inspected in may 2013,Ican’t think of anything it needs, besides maybe a tune up. $500.”

(12/20/2012) This poor jeep has rusted away.  I’m not sure there is too much value left here.

“I have had this CJ for 25 + years with the hopes of restoring it.
Now I give up or give out so I am tring to sell it so it can go 4
Wheeling once again. I have a clear title in hand and I have all

1961? DJ-3A Ambulance Sint Truiden, BE 17,500 Euros

Marc spotted this unsual DJ-3A. The back has been extended and the dash contains a glovebox, but otherwise there’s lots of DJ-3A elements here. I didn’t know there were DJ-3A ambulances. Anyone ever seen one?

“Fully equipped DJ3A ambulance, well restored over the past years, very good technical condition, new tyres, good condition canvas softtop, etc…”

1978 DJ-5F Rice Lake, WI $850

• CATEGORIES: DJ-5 & DJ-6 • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

I didn’t realize how many DJ models came with the inline 6. Apparently, that’s the reason for the bumped out hood in front.

“1978 Jeep DJ5-F. This is a retired United States Postal service Jeep so it is right hand drive. Has inline 6 cylinder, Automatic Transmission, aftermarket cab heater, runs and drives (but will need tune-up and carburetor clean/rebuild) Will have to taken away on trailer due to running rough, expired tabs, no insurance and right turnsignal isn’t working. I bought this as a project vehicle but have not time to fix it up. I have put over $1000 in parts into the vehicle already. Has new tires, new wheels, new front shocks, newer battery and a new muffler just to mention the big purchases. Odometer only goes up to 99,999, therefor I have no idea how many miles it truly has. Any questions please contact me by call or text at 715-205-8068”

1967 CJ-6 **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-6 • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was listed at $20,000.

“Original owner ordered it from the Toledo factory. Stored in a heated garage since day 1. 14,000 original miles. Probably the best example of a original CJ6 survivor. Paint still shines like new. Under the hood is near perfect. Original vinyl top windows are crystal clear. Maintained by local Jeep dealer. Still wears the original Goodyear Suburbanite tires it left the factory with. The seat covers are like new. It has been featured in our 2008 Jeep Classics Calendar and Vintage Truck Magazine.

It has a factory installed Ramsey winch on the front, wheel well cushions as well as a backseat and CB radio. The original owner had an ambulance service. This was his offroad ambulance and the 53 was its fleet number. He would make a run with it, bring it back and wash it down, back it into the garage and cover it up.

The pictures don’t do it justice. The paint is as shiney as the day it rolled off the line.”

Mark listed this at warjeep.com

“SELLING A 1950 NAVY JEEP FOR THE WIDOW OF MY FRIEND. THIS JEEP WAS FOUND IN A BARN YEARS AGO AND IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION; IT HAS BEEN IN HIS SHOP FOR 5 OR 10 YEARS AND IT RUNS OUT VERY WELL. ONLY SURFACE RUST. COULD BE MADE INTO A SHOW PIECE.

I have ridden in the jeep; it purrs like a kitten; starts right up although it has been 2 years since it has been driven.

The paint job is not that great and has been touched up over the years and has surface rust on several places; but no pits or deep rust.
