Looking for a unique way to see the Buffalo herds near Custer State Park (map)? You might look into a Jeep Tour. Here are pics showing a Wagoneer and a later model jeep built to hold a small group. Here are some links that might be helpful. It’s not clear to me if there is only one tour operator or multiple ones.

Photo of CJ-3B Tour Jeep Circa 1962 on eBay

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3B, Features • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: Brett noted the jeep is transporting the elephant. I originally thought the elephant was behind the jeep (after all, who transports an elephant in a jeep). Of course, sometimes they’ve been known to drive one.

Marc pointed out that this ‘Tour Jeep’ CJ-3B appears to have an extended rear. It looks like to me it  can carry extra people. The photo is circa 1962 and is probably from Africa. I wish we had a side shot of it. The photo is located in France, but shipping is free.

1979 CJ-7 Tour Jeep Glendale, AZ **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: Other 4x4s • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

Dennis noted that the VIN indicates these are CJ-7s.

Craig spotted this CJ-7 tour jeep. Seems like a good price. I suspect this jeep comes from the same tour Tucson company as these CJ-7 tour jeeps that were auctioned back in 2012.

“Up for sale is a rare az 99 % rust free survivor. Very straight solid body,my mechanic has gone through the jeep and restored it correctly.
very reliable starts rite up every time.
Runs and drives good, power steering, brakes work as they should, 4×4 works good, stop tail lights headlights all work, turn signals not working not sure why, gauges fuel, temp ,oil pressure, all work as they should, overall rust free very solid jeep trail, street ready. New parts paint, Tires wheels wrangler Kevlar $200 each ,weber carb conversion, radiator overflow tank, new battery, brakes, seats, ss grill, many more new parts, jeep runs and drives nice and shifts smooth through all gears, has been well maintained over the years. Check my feedback score and bid with confidence. I have a new ss gauge bezel plate. This may be a modified custom extended cj7 or a factory cj8 prototype, I can’t tell.
But it is well done and solid, the title says 2DSW model year 1979.
Its unique and fun, passenger seat moves forward and step to load people easy. very straight body, new paint.”

Here’s another OOH! postcard. It’s not hard to see how OOH! Point got its name! (this photos below are from a previous version of the card).

mailed in 1969 from Ouray to Galesburg, Illinois.

June 17th: Escaping Indiana

• CATEGORIES: Features, Old Images, Willys Wagons • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

We hit our goal on Monday of seeing three car museums in Indiana and enjoying lunch with Steve at an old fashioned diner called Schoops. The downside was . . .  when we tried to leave Indiana, we encountered road construction and blocked traffic (I-80 westbound was standstill). What should have taken an hour and a half took three hours. We went right to bed and just woke up a little bit ago. So, there will likely be no updates today.

However, I do have this neat photo Randy shared. The wagon below may have been one of several (exactly how many we haven’t determined) built by Kaiser for touring Hawaii. Note the four doors, extended bodies, and sun roofs. kaiser-extended-wagon-hawaii-randy-colin
