About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .
Here’s a neat photo that includes VEC CJ-2As on the assembly line.
“This is an original press photo. The peacetime version of the Jeep is in volume production at the Willys-Overland plant here. Shown is a sub-assembly line where bodies get finishing touches. The company which expects a world wide market for the vehicles as a farm and industrial tractor, truck, mobile power unit and passenger conveyance plans to build 20,000 this year. Photo measures 10.75 x 8.25 inches. Photo is dated 07-26-1945.”
Rear floating hubs, indents, column shift, squares on the windshield. Looks great for the price.
“1946 Willys Jeep, flathead 4 cyclinder engine, very rare 3 speed column shift, new upholstery, new leaf springs, new gas tank, needs brakes and battery, $2800 as is.”
“For Sale: 1946 CJ2A.Jeep is Florida registered, street legal clean Florida title. This is a rare 3-speed model with the shifter on the tree. This is one of only 38,221 made. This CJ2a is #26475. Estimated manufacture date of March/ April 1946. Extensive rebuild from the frame up taking 5 months to complete. These has been 500 miles driven since the rebuild with original mileage at 48,932. This Jeep drives and works. This is not a show room jeep but good working order. ”
(05/12/2017) Seller lists this as a 1945. Seller notes the body is custom. Based on the large number of CJ parts, it seems this may have been a CJ-2A, but I can’t be sure. Looks solid.

“Early production (or so I am told) CJ2A Jeep, has a power take off (PTO) on it too! 3 speed stick, 4 wheel drive hi/low range. It runs! It drives! It stops! That is about it though… It carries heavy “patina” on the body/tub which is to say it is very rusty-you can see the ground through the floor… Could be the basis for some sort of crawler project. Certainly could be restored as it appears that any part you want is available either used or new /reproduction, even complete bodies can be had. Depends on how much money you want to spend. I have done the following: new soft brake lines, new master cylinder, new wheel cylinders, new radiator hoses, thermostat, radiator cap, spark plug wires. It is not street legal at this time primarily because none of the lights work. With some brake lights and new tires you could drive it as it is I think. If you want something to bomb around on your own property you wouldn’t have to do a thing. One should not think about trying to drive it home in it’s current state, should be trailered. Comes with two extra sets of axles/differentials and a set of extra leaf springs too. I have the original selectmatic locking hubs and it has vintage Warn locking hubs on it now.’
“For Sale: 1945 CJ2A VEC; (“very early civilian” low sequence numbered chassis). Clear Texas Blue Title. Title matches the VIN tab on the firewall, which is also OEM, very clean, and legible.
No L134 flathead motor installed, L-head motor goes with the jeep, it is a complete motor, but it will need rebuild. Intake, exhaust, carb and alternator are still in the engine bay; all the components in the jeep go with the jeep.
T-90 Transmission has pristine internals, looks rebuilt, all four gears are pristine. T-3 transfer case and all linkage and brakes are complete and look very clean on the inside. Chassis is rolling on OEM 16 inch rims. Continue reading →
This married couple has quite the age difference: 61 years to be exact! The 2A is a column shift.
“This is an original press photo. Mrs. Mattie Lyons Large Sprouse, 79 and her 18 year old husband are ready for their 100 mile jeep trip to a Huntington amusement park tomorrow. It will be the first trip out of Lawrence county for Mrs. Sprouse, a widow for 17 years before her recent marriage.Photo measures 10.25 x 8.25inches. Photo is dated –1946.”
(04/14/2017) Missing some steps, but looks in good shape.
“1946 CJ 2A Willys Jeep. Nice rust free jeep that would take nothing to make it perfect, or do a military replica. Frame and underside look as good as the top side. Runs perfect, engine rebuilt. both differentials rebuilt, 4 wheel drive and transfer case work perfect. Warn Hubs, nice top, converted to 12 volts, all lights work, all wiring replaced, and I have the spare wheel. This is the original body not a replacement. Not many of these are left. Currently registered to me in CT”
“Early cj2a body with military indents. Very early production, restorable body. Does not come with windshield. Contact us for other Willy’s Jeep, and Farmall parts.”
