1946 CJ-2A Le Claire, Ia eBay

This looks like a good package.

“1946 Willys CJ2A in original almost rustfree condition, there is slight surface rust on the under body and one spot of rust on a hat channel at one of the mounting bolts. The inner windshield has rust around the glass area and probably could be replaced. The body itself has normal farm use dents and dings but nothing serious and would be a easy restoration, the area around the side holes are probably the worst they had a rubber cover bolted to both of them see picture, I have had it about 20 years and enjoyed it as is. Mechanically it runs great and everything works, including the originak key coil switch, has normal leaks at some of the seals. The brake lines wheel cylinders and master cylinder have all been replaced. The seats have powder coated frames and replacement cushions covered with vynil, the rear seat is a reproduction. Original seat pans springs and coverings go with the Willys. Wheels are powder coated with white vynil strpes and almost new non directional tires. I believe the Willys a has about 29,000 miles as it has on the speedometer. The wireharness could stand replacing, horn button doesn’t work but the horn does, windshied glass is a litttle scratched. The Willys comes with a complete Monroe three point hitch with a motor mounted hydraulic pump not installed.PTO with rear gear box and farm belt pulley and governor,V belt pulley for generator or welder, belt driven buss saw I believe it’s a Newgren. Front bumper weight, complete operational Linkbelt capstan winch with most original parts, rope roller assy is a reproduction and winch drive bracket is fabricated from steel and works well….”

Hog spotted this nicely restored (though not completely stock) CJ-2A.

“This CJ2a was restored by a good friend of our family. He rebuilt the engine and converted it to 12 volts. In the restoration it has received new brakes and I have the kits to convert the drum brakes to pads/calipers on the front. I recently installed a new battery and have new original hood blocks. The front bumper is stainless and custom made. The rear tailgate was taken out and welded solid (I have the original tailgate and it is painted to match the jeep) The front seats have new upholstery and the rear seat is in good condition. The paint job was professionally done. It has an extra fan at the radiator for extra cooling that can be turned off/on using a toggle switch on the dash. It has a new gas tank. This is a nice jeep that is ready to ride daily.”

National Guard Militia Museum of New Jersey

• CATEGORIES: Airborne Lightweight Jeeps, Museums • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

I’ve decided to create a new category that tracks the early jeeps located in museums.

Bill Maloney has shot a variety of early jeeps, among other vehicles, that appear in eastern US Museums.  Below are some of the images he has taken at the Militia Museum of New Jersey, in Sea Girt, NJ.  One of the more unique vehicles is the Prototype Extra Light Air Drop (see other lightweight jeeps here). Bill doesn’t provide any info about this particular light weight jeep, however Mark Askew, in his book RARE WW2 JEEP, identifies the vehicle below as a later version of a light weight jeep made my chevrolet.  There is an earlier version of this vehicle that had, at the very least, a slightly different grill and different lights.

Click here to see all of Bill’s 4×4 pics.

Here’s an extended MB Transport Willys (Ok, I don’t really know what the official name for this is).  I assumed these were built special for the Coast Guard?

This is a pilot version of the CJ-2A.  Note the location of the spare tire.

Here is an example of Bantam’s BRC-40.

This is a pic of the Austin Champ:

mb/cj2a Pittsburg, CA **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A, GPW (Ford MB), MB This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1200.

It runs and drives.  It is a combo jeep, but the price is good.

“Military Jeep for sale. Yes it runs! Working motor, running gear, transmission. I hate getting rid of it but we’re moving out-of-state and have to figure out how to move 3 vehicles already!
Has: 1942 Ford GPW frame, hood, windshield, grill, and other misc parts (all still have their F stamp visible); 1945 Military engine (running) with new fuel pump; 1946 Willy’s tub and transmission. The transmission is good but the tub is not in great shape.

Needs: seats; fuel tank (we just put the fuel line into a gas tank when we run it); drive shaft (it fell out when we flat towed it to our new place); tires (2 are flat though they’ll hold air long enough to tow it home or put it up on a trailer); We sanded all the old pealing yellow paint off of it and it is primer gray but we never got further than that.

This would make a great parts vehicle (we’ve been told the steering wheel alone is worth $300!) Or for those that are looking to buy a new fabricated tub and throw it on there and have a look-a-like military jeep to play around in (our plan). Or a great starter for a crazy Rock Crawler.
The parts mentioned above are the main F stamped parts so if you’re looking to restore it to a stock gpw it would need a lot. But like I said it’s great as a part donor or casual military jeep lover.

Please note we do not have a title for it, it will be bill of sale only. According to the dmv you just need to get a VIN verification done on it (simple as bringing it down to the CHP office) and DMV will then issue title and registration.  Asking $1200″”
