MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History

The MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History in Little Rock, Ar, only exhibits one jeep (shown below), but they do have a variety of WWII Jeep photos in their archive, many of which include captions.  Here are 8 of them.  The photos are part of the Allison Collection of World War II Photographs, the captions of which come from the ACME wire service.

According to the Museum’s website, “James Allison, a sports writer working for the Houston Press, noticed that many photographs not printed in the daily newspaper were routinely discarded. He received permission to save these images, and by war’s end he had amassed a collection of more than 4,600 photographs. In August 1977, Allison donated his collection to the Arkansas Museum of Science and History”.

1952 Truck Walla Walla, Wa $1850

• CATEGORIES: Willys Trucks • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

This looks like a nice truck.

“$1850 obo

1952 Willys Pickup Truck
Clear Title
Buick v6 Engine
Rebuilt Wagner Carb
manual trans
4×4 high low levers

New Uninstalled Parts:

Master cylinder
Windshield glass
Windshield weather stripping
Chrome hood emblem

This truck runs and drives but does not stop as it needs the included master cylinder installed. The paint job is a ten footer but looks good for a mountain rig. Front hood latches need to be mounted in order to latch the front of the hood down. Front drive shaft is not currently hooked up but is included (this is how he got it and he never desired to put it back in). Dash has been modified with different gauges and a radio. Wheels and tires are good. Currently running off of exterior gas tank (not included)

I would consider this a rat rod. I say this in that it could be legally on the road with a weekend’s work and could then be driven as is or you could continue to drive it as you work on it more. Please do not expect a rig that will win any shows for paint or one that will not need tinkering.

1954 M-38A1C Dayton, OH **SOLD**

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay

It looks like there might be a little rust around the front edge of the fender.

“1954 Willys M38A1C Jeep for sale

The cutout in the windshield is for the barrel to stick out (the Jeep does not come with a gun or a gun mount).

This is a military Jeep with AROUND 45,000 original miles.

THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE A TITLE, SOLD WITH BILL OF SALE ONLY.

Body is in good shape with very little rust as you can see in the photos.

I bought it 4 or so years ago and got it running and frankly it didn’t run that bad but it does need a carborator rebuild.  We drove it around the field, parked it back in the garage and haven’t touched it since!

This Jeep has the original 24 volt system and has a place for 2 batteries just in front of the windshield.

I was going to restore it but I have enough other projects that I will never get to and it would be nice to have the room!

This vehicle has a lost title from the previous owner and is sold with a bill of sale only.

Let’s talk about the title for a minute… YES this vehicle has been titled to a private owner.

The lady that I purchased this vehicle from has promised me for the past several years that she would send me the title and never has, I have called her literally hundreds of times with no luck.

So the title is lost.

I have a rough looking Xerox copy of the title when it was owned by the Museum of the Great Planes but not the current title.

So really it is a lost title and it has been titled in private hands.

I have a Xerox copy of the title… The vehicle was sold to the City of Lawton OK for the Museum of the Great Planes April 12, 1977 from the US Government.  The vehicle was sold to the previous owner sometime in the early ’80s.  The vehicle was last tagged in 2003.  The owner died sometime around 2004 and the Jeep sat for a couple of years.  I purchased the vehicle from the Mother of the previous owner in July of 2006.

On one part of the title is says 1953 but that has been covered up and is typed as a 1954… so upon further investication here is what I found:

The VIN number is 77369, the unit # is 433 Manufactured by WIllys Motors Date November 1954 Contract # G2758-8358319.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

This doesn’t look too bad.

“1961 Forward Control Jeep Pickup.  Jeep is pretty solid, with lots of surface rust.  Runs really good, but not real fast.  Mileage may or may not be in excess of 100,000.The windshield and back window look good….side windows are cracked.  Like new radial tires.  Four wheel drive works fine.  Has rust on the corners of the dash.  I have new fabric to cover the dash once repaired.  This is a VERY RESTORABLE little truck, or drive it as is.  These are not real common.  Delivery available for a fee….Email for a quote.”
