“I have for sale, a 1953 Willys Jeep CJ-3b. It has a great running F-Head 134 with new head gasket, water pump, Solex carb, mechanical fuel pump, hoses, distributor, plugs, wires, oil and filter cleaning, I also have a electric fuel pump wired inline on the fuel hose. Could use a tappet adjustment and I will do that, once the weather warms a bit. It has been rebuilt by the prior owner and has only a few miles on the 30 over motor. Starts and runs strong. New Interstate battery and cables. Continue reading

Only a Couple Updates This Morning

• CATEGORIES: News This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Upon our return home on Friday we learned there’d been a kitchen faucet leak. No damage to the cabinet, but the leaking faucet led to a new sink/faucet combo. So, there was no time for eWillys updates for Sunday. Updates will resume Monday morning!

1946 CJ-2A Shipshewanna, IN **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3500.

Nick’s got this CJ-2A for sale.

“This is a 1946 Willys CJ2A Jeep. I originally purchased this because it had an incorrect F-head engine, the one I needed for my Navy Jeep. This was too nice to let go to waste so I resurrected it; I’ve crawled all under the frame and it’s excellent. My goal was to make it a running, driving vehicle that someone could enjoy. The engine starts right up and runs great without smoke. Transmission shifts good and does not pop out of 2nd gear like most others. It did have brakes but the driver rear wheel cylinder went out, so I bought another one but didn’t have a large enough hub puller to install. This has upgraded 10” drum brakes which should stop it great in modern traffic.

Here’s a list of everything I’ve done to this CJ2A:
-Correct L-134 Willys engine w/ T90 tranny
-Wire brushed flywheel
-Verified good pressure plate, pilot bushing, clutch, clutch fork, throwout bearing
-Completely rebuilt starter
-New coil
-Converted to 12V
-New battery
-New motor mounts
-Correct GL-1 gear oil that won’t eat brass
-New oil & antifreeze
-New carb
-New passenger seat frame

It has a Bestop that’s in decent shape. A couple of the windows are cut and it needs cleaned up, but all the parts are there. It’ll work great during the winter along with the period correct Harrison heater under the dash.

The things it will need before going down the road is to install that wheel cylinder, and change the yoke oil seals on the transfercase. It’s a couple hour job that I’ve done on my Jeep. Right now I’m in college and did all this work during spring break, but ran out of time for those. In the pictures you can see the body is in pretty good shape. Someone put in new front floor sections and covered the tailgate area like a WWII Jeep, but it looks to just be bolted on. Like I said this Jeep starts right up and will drive around the yard (and can text you a video). I have a clear Indiana title & all the serial number tags as well.”

March 24-25th: Homeward Bound

<– Day 15 – Wednesday March 23rd: Blizzards & Balloons | Beginning –>

On Thursday morning we left Cortez, Colorado, bound for Salt Lake City and dinner with my kids. There was no messing around on the way home. Based on the weather report, we had a slim window between Friday and Saturday to get through the Blue Mountains in Oregon, so we didn’t want to linger anywhere.

We arrived in Salt Lake with time to spare. My kids left it up to me to decide on dinner, so I checked yelp and found Mi Lindo Nayarit, a Mexican seafood restaurant. They were fine with hit, so, long story short, it turned out to be an excellent choice. Ann and I ordered the Molcejete, a meaty delight of shrimp, beef, chicken, cheese, cactus, and more. It was awesome! In fact, everything we ordered was great. The yelpers were right, this is a hidden gem.

The Molcejete, a two-person meal.

After dinner, we drove to Twin Falls for the night. On Friday we raced home, hoping to dodge the snow expected in the Blue Mountains. We did hit some snow, but it wasn’t sticking yet.

That ends another adventure, though the end came a few days earlier than we’d planned (bad blizzards, bad!). Thanks to everyone who helped make the trip another memorable one for us!!!!

The next trip will likely be a jaunt down to Salt Lake in early June to celebrate the high school graduation of my youngest son. That’s the last of my high schoolers. They grew up fast!

1984 CJ-8 Alaskan Postal Cincinnati, OH **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: Other 4x4s This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $9500.

These are rare jeeps.

“For sale. 1984 AMC Jeep CJ8 Alaskan postal version (right hand drive!!!). It has an inline 258 6-cylinder and is an automatic (very rare for older jeeps) 4×4. Floor shift with floor-mounted, hand-operated emergency brake. It fires right up, does run smoothly and drive, but needs some TLC. The left front fender is dented; there is some rust in the right side front rocker; and the driver’s (right side) floor pan will need replacing. It also slips a little in second. No rust in tub, wheel wells or reinforced frame. Still has AMC/Jeep mud flaps attached.

Here in the U.S., the Cj-8 Scrambler was marketed mainly as workman like pickup. The Alaskan postal service ordered 230 Cj-8s equipped with the world cab , side opening “barn door” and insulating foam sprayed in the entire cargo area to ensure the mail indeed did get delivered. This jeep is still 85% USPS complete and would make a great candidate for a full postal restoration. You can see where the old USPS stripes and logos were, as well as the USPS unit number on the front windshield and back door. Even has the original postal herringbone cloth seat! 132,000 original miles. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to own this rare RHD model of an already rare Jeep!”

“1946 Willys CJ2A. I found this wonderful Willys/Jeep in dry storage where it has been since 1987. It was last driven then. It was repainted once in the late 1970’s. 1979 is what I was told. I don’t claim to be a jeep expert but I have been restoring muscle cars for 30 years. I don’t recall seeing anything any vehicle cleaner than this Willys. It is in astounding condition for a 70 year old vehicle. I own a repair garage and as such went through this Willys mechanicals from end to end. Fluids all drained refilled. I rebuilt the fuel pump, master cylinder and carburetor. I removed the oil pan to check for debris, clean and reseal. The entire fuel system was cleaned spotless to remove all old fuel residues. Plugs and points were installed. Upon completion of all this work, I hit the starter button and the original engine fired immediately and runs perfectly. Continue reading
