(11/05/2018) Seller believes this to have been manufactured in November of 1945 (but sold in ’46), but I have not run across any evidence of this. It’s a serial number 23785. It has a replacement body.

“1945 CJ2 (research shows it was manufactured in Nov-1945. Technically it is a 1946 but registered and titled as a 1945 4WD, 3spd manual, has 130cc Ford 4-cyl., Navy grey paint, Warn hubs, odometer reflects only miles put on it when it was restored (30years ago). Custom canvas top with matching canvas on seats. This is not mine, belongs to my neighbor…84 year old retired naval fighter pilot. He stated frame, drivetrain, engine, hood, grill and fenders are original but the body is a reproduction, original was rusted badly. He drives it around neighborhood and gets his mail in every so often. Serious inquiries only. I will try to answer basic questions but can put you in touch with direct if needed.”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $2750.
(09/15/2018) This would benefit from a Bobcat hood.

“Great project Willys. I have 2.5 willys Jeeps for sale all for one price. The main Jeep is a 1961 willys CJ5 ( with title) with a 255 V6 that runs. Like I said it is a project Jeep. It needs the brake system to be finished and the clutch linkage to be installed. It does need a gas tank too. It has a ’48 Willys fiberglass tub in fare shape with two front window one glass and one poly. The other 1.5 is a full frame ’48 willys ( no title ). It has all original the drive train in place Flat head Willys in line 4 cyl. Jeep will roll but I do not know if it will run. It has great bones to start with. and the last part of this sale is a ’47 tub in fare shape too. Any question please call or text me. I can also get more pix if you need them. Come over and look at all that there is, and make me a offer I can’t refuse”

Talk about a rare jeep. Anyone ever seen one of these (if there are any left). It’s a specially outfitted jeep for the State Department for carrying the story of America to the world. The first pics below were from a September 1949 issue of Popular Science, while the newspaper article was carried in the Sunday Star on Sunday, April 17, 1949.

This Beaver Lake Lodge CJ-5 in Marble, Colorado, was setup for tours. I wished there was a better photo of the jeep.
