This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Listed as a 1946, this VEC could be a 1945 given the rear floaters. That said, there’s lots of rust.

“I have a collection of 1946 VEC CJ2A Jeep parts for restoration or just parts. I was going to restore this but I have an aircraft restoration project that is more demanding of my time.
Parts include: Rolling chassis, (full floating rear axle), with tub, 5 mounted like new 600×16 military NDT tires, engine, transmission/transfer case, radiator, rear driveshaft, drivers seat frame, non-VEC windshield frame, tailgate, hood, front fenders and grill.
Couldn’t find an engine id number in the usual two places/pads but the cylinder head is the early smooth top design. The engine turns over with a wrench and the crank pulley nut looks correct for a VEC.

Unclear what work it needs. It has a rare Koenig 555 Super Cab.
“It’s a red 4×4, 2-dr utility ’56 Willys Jeep, CJ-5. Was going to restore it, but no longer have the time.
Was appraised at $6000, I’m asking $4995 obo.
Received a “Serviceable rating” = restorable, but needs work to be drivable.

Could be of interest to the right person. Looks similar to a CJ-2L, but this is more likely a one-off build.

“44 tapered offset rear. dana 44 front with 30 ends and axels, New Master cylinder with 11″ brakes, brakes worked good when i bought it. Two desert dogs on super offset wheels, buckshots in the front. Fiberglass willys body and nose, both need some fiberglass work. Roll cage ready to weld back in as soon as you throw on the body. ”

“1946 Willy’s Jeep. Mostly stock, has L-134 engine serial number indicates a Willy’s factory remanufacture. Buckshot bias ply non-directional tires 99%, perfect tires for the Jeep. Tons of traction, look old school. Pictures make the Jeep look amazing, in all fairness it is not. Has rust in the usual spots, hat channels and tool box. Tons of new parts, shouldn’t need much to keep puttering around. Price is the price, otherwise will keep. Includes spare running take out motor, transmission and transfer case (both would need a rebuild). Spare axles what not. Also, optional- M416 military trailer with almost no rust, needs tires and paint. Would include with the Jeep for $700. Must sell Jeep before separating any items, thanks.”
