CJ2A Auction Westfield, PA AUCTION

Date(s) 4/8/2025 – 5/14/2025

Hosted by Jelliff Auction and Realty, I feel this is a CJ2A with a CJ3A windshield, but I will defer and modify that determination, chime in and let me know if I’m wrong on that.

My reason for that is the ignition switch looks to be to the right side of the dash and it looks like it has longer leg frames on the seats,. There appear to be remnants of the bow holders as well possibly.

Willys Jeep flathead 4 cylinder, (body is in rough condition)

This windshield controversy goes way back with me to 1962, with my dad’s first Jeep, bought as a 1950 CJ3A stated on the title, with the correct one piece windshield. Yet when my dad was having a soft top installed at the dealer, (Mide Motors Garfield NJ) salesman “FAT PETE” LINTAS said, according to the serial #, the Jeep is a 1948, I never quite understand why, so many 48-49 CJ2A’s I’ve seen have the 3A windshield. One of those mysteries of life.
This 3A had a huge metal diamond plate push bumper mounted on the front, was used by the NY & NJ Port of Authority to push stalled cars out of the Lincoln tunnel. I still remember the painted over lettering on the hood of the Jeep with vehicle #1095.

Posting again, for some strange reason, does not show in comments. This windshield controversy goes way back with me to my dad’s first Jeep in1962. titled as a 1950 CJ3A with the correct 1 piece windshield. When my dad took it in the the dealer (Mide Motors Garfield NJ) to have a top installed, the salesman “FAT PETE” Lintas told him that according to the serial number, it was a 1948.
Over the years, I’ve seen so many 48-49 2A’s with a 3A windshield, could never come up with a strong, logical answer. Not likely that many 2A owners just wanted to switch out windshields.
While I’m at it, one other pressing matter, commenting and posting pictures has always been, and continues to be a constant problem, I realize all this “fixing” takes time, but boy oh boy, are we Ewillys followers getting impaient waiting.

I’m actually not aware of any comment issues and we are not working on fixing comments.

Did not know having external pictures in the comments was even available, I will look at those, there are many outdated plug-ins that we decided not to move forward with.

Will dig in to that, all permissions were wiped out for sure on the transfer so will look at it.

Thanks for the feed back on the CJ2A, I admittedly am no expert on CJ stuff and appreciate the knowledge, any errors or ommission on my part I try to lead with some sort of provide me feed back, which if the comments are not populating I can see that being an issue.

’49 was a transition year when 2A production ‘slipped into’ 3A production …Based on the front frame horns, windshield, and apparent lack of top bow holders, I’d lean toward 3A on this one…

Regarding the 2A/3A windshield ‘mystery’, my understanding is that Jeep dealers regularly replaced damaged 2A windshields with the ‘better’ 3A windshield…
