4 Combat Rims Waynesville, OH $400

• CATEGORIES: Tires and Rims This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Top rims pictured need a closer examination.

“I have 4 WWII combat wheels for a Willy MB and Ford GPW. In the first picture, the bottom two rims look goo. The top let rim has a very small amount of metal eroded away around the valve stem hole. The top right rim has holes (you can stick your fingers through) around the valve stem area (shaded area in picture)”

Year? DJ-3A/CJ Crittenden, OH **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ5, DJ-3A This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was Best Offer.

It’s a project with a DJ body on a CJ (of some kind) chassis.

year-dj3a-cj-oh

“Up for sale is my completely stripped down 1956 CJ-3 Willy’s Jeep Project. This has been sitting in my workshop for long enough, so its time for someone else to take it over. I learned a lot on this project – the biggest thing being that I don’t have time for a project like this!

The engine was removed in the fall of 2013 and the block planed and bored by Monarch. The head was planed as well. You get everything you see in the pics. It should be everything you need to rebuild with the exception of a gasket kit and either a new exhaust manifold or a heat riser kit to repair the one that you see on the bench. The body seems to be from a DJ best I can tell, but the chassis and running gear is definitely CJ (i.e. it is 4WD, etc and all the data plates point to CJ).

I have a really cool old trunk I put in the back of the bed for extra storage. This rat rod does run and drive and is preaty dam fast!! All lights work and could be street driven if desired (would not recommend driving on the highway). I have a clean Colorado title for the 53 Willys”

Ann and her aunt Cindy with Smokey Bear in the background

I was feeling better Saturday morning, so rather than rest, Uncle Fred and Aunt Cindy joined Ann and I for a short road trip into New Mexico’s mountains to hunt down a former gold town called White Oaks.

Today we completed a grand circle through part of New Mexico.

The first hour of the trip consisted of flat New Mexican landscape and an even less interesting highway. However, the company kept that part of the journey interesting.

Sign in Carrizozo.

We stopped in the tiny town of Carrizozo to grab some Advil, as Fred has suffered a serious and life-threatening elbow injury at the hands of his grandchildren, whom Fred has discovered are now big enough to mob him and take him down. And by life-threatening elbow injury I mean the injury effects his dominant arm, thus it seriously curtails the ability for him to eat or drink with it (hence, threatens his way of life).

It turned out that the arm injury was a blessing for the rest of us, because as Cindy and I sat in the Jeep waiting for Ann and Fred to return, we spotted a donkey (or ass??) on top of a building a block away that was off the well-traveled highway. When Ann and Fred returned, we decided to investigate.

Donkeys on the roofs of both buildings in Carrizozo. There were also donkeys on the sidewalks. You might also recognize this area from the movie “The Book of Eli” which was filmed along this street, though there were facades added in certain areas.

More donkeys and other sculptures in a hidden alcove.

Don’s 1961 Wagon

• CATEGORIES: Features, Willys Wagons This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Don was asked to share pics of his 1961 wagon. It sure looks great! He included a photo of an earlier jeep as well.  He’s owned 19 jeeps over the past 35 years. He’s currently working on a 1962 truck. I’d say he’s got a serious case of the Willys sickness!
