This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This has drive train upgrades. It also had a later model jeep rim as an air filter cover. It looks like the rear ends of the body have been lengthened, yielding a slightly different body lines along the rear bottom of the jeep.

“We are selling our 1953 Willys CJ3A. This was to be last falls project that we just have not had time to finish. There are lots of parts here to complete it. When we got the Jeep we removed the body, cleaned up the frame and then started on the drive train. We got a 1995 S10, pulled the 4.3 TBI and wiring harness out. Put a new timing chain, timing cover, oil pan and valve cover gaskets on it and a new water pump. Next we rebuilt the T90 transmission and Dana 18 Transfer Case. Got the GM bell housing with Jeep adapter and new clutch kit. We got all of that back down into the frame. We have two bodies for this project. We have all the original Willys steel parts. Plus a fiberglass Tub, Fenders, Grill and Hood. This already has the saginaw steering box upgrade done to it. Plus some short back seats, heater box, soft top and soft doors. Unfortunately, we just have too many things going on to finish it right now. “
The front frame rails look like they’ve been worked on some. This likely has a reproduction body.

Seller believes this to be an M-38 body, but it looks more like a replacement body. The CJ-3A title is probably correct.

“1953 Willy’s Jeep CJ3A 4 speed with a chevy V8. Warren overdrive, power steering, full cage rollbar, 10 in brakes, 10 in tires, tilt wheel, rear seat, corvette aluminum cross flow radiator, and a 4 barrel carborator. Not sure on the miles but no more than 15,000. We are asking $7000.00. Jeep has been in the garage its whole life and is in great shape. This is a fun jeep!”
The body looks to be DJ, but the pics aren’t good enough to tell much more than that. It’s still 2WD, but not clear if that’s due to a lack of a front drive line or lack of a front R&P.
