Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “This is a 51 cj 3a that has gone through a frame off restoration, it has a new steel body tub and front fenders the rest of the body parts are original. this was all done 10 years ago and since has about 500 miles put on it, did the parade thing and a few shows, it has a few extra items that jeep people like. It has a new 7 piece canvas top in slate grey, twin stick koenig pto that runs the winch up front and rear farm gearbox in the back, has driveshaft sheilds, orginal rear seat, and best of all dual rear wheel adapters. It is 12 volt, body color is jadestone poly which is a poly dark green. nice, as it looks different in sunlight and shade, also has orginal heater, it is all orginal 51 except the 12 volt, asking 10,000 for it as is but will consider offers lower without the optional equipment. Has been in the garage for 5 years so may need some cleaning and tinkering to get running.”

“I am trying to assist a friend of mine on selling his Willys. I don’t quite have the details on the vehicle but will update when I do….He is asking $12,000 for this Willys. He has owned it since the 50’s and used it to run in the sand dunes. Now he is a little less comfy in it, being 91 years old and just wants someone to enjoy it like he did.”

Looks solid. The ignition isn’t in the middle of the dash. That and the lack of bow holders could mean it is a CJ-3A body.

Motor is stuck.
“1952 CJ-3A with nearly all the original parts on it. The L-Head motor is stuck, but has black oil and has clean coolant, I believe it’s a good motor. The rear floor panel was replaced with flat steel and the tool storage box has no bottom, besides that she looks really good for the age. AS-IS with a bill of sale only. Open to trades and will deliver for additional fee”

(01/04/2015) The jeep runs. The purchase includes a spare motor.
“47 Willys CJ3A restoration project. This Jeep is complete with snow plow blade option. Lift cylinder and hydraulic pump work. Body is in good condition with only the right rear quarter section damaged. Original 6 volt system and stock drivetrain. Engine runs. Transmission T90 and transfercase T18 removed as complete assembly. Spare blue printed and balance L134 engine.”
Updates include Suzuki axles.
“Original body, Hood, Grille, Fiberglass fenders. Rear gate welded shut. 5.0 Pony Ford engine, Fuel Injected plus computer. Ford bellhousing, clutch and flywheel. Warner T-15 3spd. transmission with the shortened output shaft to fit Ford splines. Dana 18 Transfer case. Custom front and rear output shafts. Original heavy duty new springs. Front and rear axeles from Suzuki Samuray, front is manualy locking. Frame-modified and adopted Suzuki. Fuell tank in the back. Twin side exaust, Rolebar, Soft top. Needs wiring, Tires, Battary and Paint. Runs like a champ. Wiring is bad and does not charge, but alternator is ok. Power steering. Price is non negotionable. Cash only. As is. Hate to sell but I am in a bind. Used to drive it dayly in the winter.”

Listed as a CJ-2A, it might be a CJ-3A. It appears to have a passenger side tank.
“49 willys jeep Buick 229 v6 runs seats are just sitting in it not installed. Some rust in driver side under seat not bad. Four speed manual transmission shifter needs some fabrication but still works. Soft top and doors and bikini top included. Tires almost new great tread. Great start to a project!!”
