UPDATE: Price dropped to $5000
This looks like a reasonable price. One reader reports, “I’ve seen this jeep in person. It is not that great. The fenders are rotted out where those flares are, under the hood is a mess, and the driver’s side rear corner is crunched in. The body is a reproduction body from the 70′s with a glove box.”
“I have a 1949 Willys CJ 3 a. It is registered in MA and I drive it most weekends. I have the title. It runs great, Drives great, Shifts Great, all gauges work, excellent soft top (bestop) with very clear plastic windows, HEAT that works, hydralic plow that works great, no rust through on frame (there is surface rust), has 12 volt conversion, spot lights, electric fuel pump (new), electric wiper, elect ignition, nice clear windshield, aftermarket fender flairs (that come off, if you wish), 2″ in ball in rear, new battery, 5 tires are in great shape, brand new seats, newly rebuilt carb. head recently planed, and 8800 mi on rebuilt engine. It had a great paint job within the last 5 years, but they didn’t prep it well.
The bad news is that there is some surface rust on tub. rust through on the front fenders (new ones come with it, and dent in rear drivers corner, which has aftermarket crusher corners.
This one is a no brainer, if your looking for a driver that has all the bells and whistles, this is the rig. Asking 5k or an acceptable offer, I have no need to dump it. I enjoy it but I have others. If you are really interested please email me. You can drive it home, or bring a trailer. I really don’t need any other stuff, so just a cash sale. I will remove when sold. Please respond if your are truly interested. Thanks for looking Bill”

(09/30/2012) This hasn’t run in years. How about that back seat.
“1949 Willys Jeep hard top, 260 ford V8 has not run in 10 years. The body has very little rust as it has been stored in my garage. Every thing worked well on it last time I used it 1033 years ago, but believe the engine is frozen now from sitting so long.”
FEATURED JANUARY 2011
I was trying to locate some more interesting willys-related museums, but instead stumbled across the atlantic, landing in the Netherlands (back in time no less). The result were these 2 great images of old Fire Jeeps with extended rears and wonderful details. There are a few more smaller images of these jeeps at the Netherland focused website Brandweerforum. They have some other non-jeep firetrucks there as well.
