Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. It’s got some classic slot rims and a PTO Winch. It looks like a great price.
“Sale is for a 1956 Willy’s Jeep CJ5- $1500.00 or best offer and as is condition. Jeep has a 1972 in-line (straight) 6 cylinder Ford Bronco motor, low gear ratio, PTO Wench w/approx. 2000′ of 5/16″ wire cable, electric fuel pump, new leaf springs with a 2″-3″ lift, new seals on the transmission, transfer case and rear differential, new muffler.
Jeep exterior and interior needs paint and the seats need to be re-upholstered. The wiring could also be updated. This jeep is a strong runner but it is not good for use on public roads due to the low gear ratio (top speed approx. 45 mph) and age. This jeep would be great for hunting, off-roading, climbing, etc. The jeep has a tow bar attached to the front so it can be pulled to your destination. Keep reading for information from NADA Guides.”

(03/16/2010) Here’s a stock CJ-5 in good shape.
“1956 Willys Jeep , 4 cylinder Willys motor, 3 spd tranny, Factory Era hard top with hard doors, heater, lights wipers all work. Runs and drives, Also have tow bar that goes on the front with two bolts, spare tire, tire chains. Four wheel drive works good. Has working tail gate, This is a fun little jeep. This looks like a great price.
“Good running old jeep, V6, Dual exhaust with welded muflers (I think flow-masters) and headers, new tires, newer tow bar-pulls nice, top is in good shape, also has a bikini top in good condition. I’ll throw in a crome rear bumper if you want it.”
If wiring the lights is all that’s left, then this might be a pretty good price. The body appears to be a replacement body, so it’s likely in very good shape.

This old Jeep has an unusual paint job.
“About as original as it get. Has been setting, but a new battery, a little carb work and a repacking of the wheel bearings and you can peel its cloths off and enjoy the coming warm weather. Lotts of extra part included at that price.”
