“1951 Willys M38. Has a Ford engine in it but the rest of the drivetrain is original. Was going to restore this one but don’t have the time. Does not have a title as the PO got it at an auction and recieved a CJ2A title. Paint is partially removed from the body with only small amount of surface rust. Sat in a shed for years. “1951 Willys M38 project my son and I started a few years ago. He has since moved away and is busy building his career, so it is time for the M38 to go. It had a Buick V-6 oddfire which was no good, so we built up a GM slightly later model V-6, which is currently in the longblock stage. 1952 m38 —- This jeep was 90% refurbished in 1989 from the frame up new wiring harness (24 volt), brakes, etc. Motor and trans ran like a top. It has not been started since 1989. After 1989 it was stored in a rough outbuilding and obviously shows it. I have all the parts, snorkel, seat frames, etc. I’m 70 and don’t need this project. “This Willys M38 is in excellent condition except for the top.
There is a Clean, Clear Colorado Title.
It is modified to a low miles Buick V6 called the 231 Even Fire.
The clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing are all new as well as the Brass Pilot Bushing in the back of the crankshaft.
It is a running, driving vehicle that needs a few little touch ups but overall it is a very good running machine.
The four shifters are as follows:
Three Speed with Reverse, Overdrive, 4X4 and the short one puts the entire unit in neutral.
You can shift into Overdrive in Every Gear.
All four tires are brand new, the brakes work excellent and the built on Winch is in perfect condition.
It is very fun to drive and it starts every time I have ever needed it.”
