Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1946 Willys Jeep CJ2A, Sounds like the Jeeps on MASH. No title, Buyer Pick Up Only. Condition is Used. Jeep has about 1,700 mile on it since it was refurbished and has lived in California for most of its life. Runs strong and straight. No steering pulling and brakes well. I drove it about a hundred miles in the last week or so and put it into storage. Sometimes, in second gear, it will pop out of gear if are letting up on the gas. And, sometimes ‘grates’ when going into second – could be the operator, too. The battery is not getting charged for some reason. There is a small tear in the left cargo cushion. Tires look good but they are the same ones that were on it when I bought it 16 years ago. Has never been ‘off road’ or banged around. As is, where is. Buyer to arrange shipping and bears the cost. Great vehicle for The 4th of July. This is a very original Jeep. She always turns heads.”

This article appeared in the Miami News on October 09, 1956. That seemed a late date for an “introductory” announcement. The article highlighted the low operating cost, the 30,000 mile maintenance guarantee, the four body styles, and the wide range of duties the new jeep could perform.
