Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “I have a PTO and transfer case/transmission half cut for a Willys Jeep. My father had intentions of using it on a future project but passed away recently and I have no use for it. PTO turns and is not seized. Unsure of transmission as the levers will not move. I’m currently soaking everything with penetrating oil to see if I can loosen them up. Pickup in Mahaffey, PA. must take whole half cut”

“I have a old Willys Jeep , I’m not sure the year ,No Tilte , it’s 4wd , I haven’t tried to turn the motor, what you see is what you get , it’s deff a project , they aren’t easy to find and would be a great start for a resto project,crawler /buggy or a rat rod ,No I won’t take scrap price or accept any low ball offers,I’ll make a rat rod out of it this summer if it doesn’t sell, asking $1500.”
I found this cool and rare brochure for the ill-fated Sierra Dana 20 overdrive on eBay. It’s printed on 8.5″x11″ paper, so the marketing budget must have been tight (as I understand it, working capital was an early issue, which played a part in the demise of the company). A few years ago there was a post of an article that also highlighted this rare overdrive.

This 1943 image shows a crowd gathered around a jeep as it carries a wounded American. There are several articles about the war with Japan in this August 23, 1943, issue of the Daily Illini, but what caught me by surprise was Northwest Airlines’ attempt to secure a direct air route from Alaska to Tokyo even almost two years before the war eventually ended, as if we weren’t at war with Japan! Talk about advanced planning.
The price of the paper ad from a Janney’s Toys catalog(?) seems crazy to me, but the ad is a neat bit of info if you own one of these two jeep toys.
