Why so underpowered??

• CATEGORIES: Features This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

I don’t know why Willys were always anemic on the power plants, I have a ’48 Truck and was leaving a show following an all stock ’48 Chevy Truck and it smoked me big time, it was probably 3x faster, albeit 2WD six cylinder vs full time hubs with a L134. It is what it is when you are all in with a Willys you deal with it for sure, still a fun truck to drive, but super limited in scope and ability off the Farm so to say.

Maybe they were worried about the additional power on the driveline? I get it they used what they had at the time, but they never gave up and went to a decent V6 when available either for a long time.

1948 Chevy

Optional
235 six cylinder @ 93HP, 192 ft/lb Torque

I like the look of this one. Has some of the original parts. But 289 should be easily supported to get that running. If its not terminal. Not too many pictures.

Information from seller:

1953 jeep m38a1 has a 289 in it but cannot get it to start. I have oringinal motor and transmission was going to do a complete restore but lost interest. Very little body rust has solid frame. Seat frames are there but would need redone. No trades and pretty firm on price

Little newer for our crowd, but not a bad price point. Not sure how much crosses over to the Kaiser Jeeps to be honest. Kaiser sold to AMC in 1970. Stuff like the additional parking lights on the fenders and the sorts are not going to fly for an older rig, there are some things I notice for sure like that.

Information from seller:

No paperwork! For parts or trail rig Four wheel drive hardware fiberglass body. Clean rolling chassis. No rot on the chassis except for the rear cross member bumper. Asking $1200 obo

If you don’t have a disassembled stalled project in your inventory are you a real Jeep person! Mines been apart for almost 29 years, it happens. I would pick this one up for the building as a display frame and driveline. I’m just super booked to be able to head down there not going to happen. But this looks like once you get the engine sorted you could be yard driving this one in a few weeks of clean up.

Information from seller:

65 Keiser Jeep solid frame, drivetrain, cracked block, but head might be fine. Rears, transmission, transfer case were all rebuilt 20 years ago. Some engine parts and original owners manual. Asking $1400 or best reasonable offer. Also have title and tag.

1960 Hotchkiss M-201 Jeep

• CATEGORIES: Uncategorized This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Update on the Hotchkiss M-201, I pulled this one down. I found the same rig and all the pictures on a UK FB post.

I was just talking to someone over email about the importance of the Photos and how they are invaluable to use for search to do basic cross references.

The story about the BAT rig that was posted as an MB, and it being an 1960 Hotchkiss, then this being a 1960 Hotchkiss, it was all too fishy for me at this time.

So doing some more digging I found the same email tied to a similar approach where the user grabbed a BAT photo of a high end Chevy 427 that sold in March, then reposted it on a site racetrade in Aug for like half, it sold on BAT for $50k reposted for $22k.

So this was almost the same exact approach on this ad.

I do try to vet the emails and users as best possible prior to posting, but this one got through and that sucks, but as soon as I figured it out it came down.

I have notified the other site of the suspected scam for the other race engine as well.

Thanks, Tim

1968 Jeep Kaiser M-725 $8,500 Wilbraham, MA

Love the look of the M-715 and M-725, it just has that GI Joe kids toy kind of rough and tough feel. This being a County rig is very cool. Wonder what the history of this one was.

This should have a later 230 Tornado that has a bunch of upgrades to it if it is a ’68, and with low miles might be a good little power plant.

Driveability, these were not designed for highway use, but they are cool rigs. You see most of the time the 230 needs to go away and maybe a 6BT is tossed in its place. Which is a cool engine but the Tornado is a neat just very niche and not for everyone.

If you buy it and swap out the 230, hit me up happy to add the engine to the collection.

Information from seller:

original 12,900 miles jeep 725 super solid sat in garage it’s whole life runs and drives 8500$ brand new michelin tires about 39” tires 12900 original miles.

Marx Metal Willys Jeep $135 Hagerstown, MD

Not sure when “listed”, but neat Jeep Toy. I’m not up on the market prices so just sharing more for what it is then what is vs what it is listed for. The paint details look original, but I know nothing about this, just has that legit look to it.

Here is some AI info on these…… (errors and omissions may apply)

This is a vintage Marx Willys Jeep toy, likely from the 1950s.

  • It is made of pressed steel and typically features a folding windshield and an opening hood.
  • The toy is a popular collectible and can be found in various conditions, from well-preserved to those with paint wear and light rust.
  • The toy was made by Louis Marx & Co. and sometimes has “Willys” and “Jeep” marks but no “Marx” markings.
  • The value of the toy varies greatly depending on its condition and any missing parts.

Information from seller:

14 inch long heavy duty metal windshield folds down hood comes up. Battery powered headlights with size D battery’s never checked to see if they worked. Very old toy little dusty from on the shelf price is firm
