I was sick again today, so not too many posts. I feel like I’m getting better. That’s what we get for have eleven children here under the age of five years old! They are germ carriers for sure!
Tim filed this short report on February 26th, which is Johnny Cash’s birthday.
“Cathy and I made a trip to Nashville, Tennessee, and spent a few days there listening to good music, eating hot chicken and of course looking out for jeeps. In the Johnny Cash museum I found this CJ-5 on the cover of the “Johnny Cash Children’s Album” and…..Today is Johnny Cash’s birthday !”
I found a larger image of it here:
UPDATE II: Bill added a couple pics of a similar, but different burns head.
UPDATE: **SOLD** for $1025 on eBay!
Matt spotted this rare dual intake manifold manufactured by Burns. I’ve never run across one.

Although there seems to be a plethora of accessories for vintage Willys Jeeps there exists very few horsepower enhancements for the early Jeep flat head four cylinder motors. A few after market manufacturers in the 1950’s such as Hickey Enterprises developed a high compression cylinder head and Burns, who had been manufacturing aluminum 2X1 intake manifolds for Model A and Model B Ford banger motors, developed and intake manifold for the Willys Jeep four cylinder L-head engine .

“1951 Jeep Willies m-38 Has been repainted but still has all most all OME parts. Does run and drive. We do have the title.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $14,500.
“I bought it from a guy who bought it in the Pittsburgh area. Apparently, it sat in a firehouse for many years and was maintained by the firemen. I converted from 6v to 12v because it’s cold and put in a key ignition. It actually came with a Geiger counter. Pretty cool.”

The price includes the trailer and the jeep.

“1946 Willys jeep runs drives 4×4 works straight body Has 6 cylinder Ford engine Brakes need finishing Has a little rust but it’s a Texas car so not bad for a 72 year old. Court house ran the serial number and gave me paper work to get the title but said I’d have to register and buy plates as soon as it came in so I didn’t see any sense in paying twice.”
