About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .
(10/03/2010) “1943 army jeep made by ford . This jeep is in great condition no rust straight body. It has a buick V6 engine and runs strong. It is all current registration just paid. I have the original operators manual. Has been in family for over 60 yrs.”
(08/01/2015) It’s a project with a fiberglass body.
“1949 Willys Jeep for sale, needs finished up. has new transmission and clutch, reman head, new distributor and starter, its not far from being done but I don’t have time to finish and have to have surgery so its time to let someone else take over. this jeep has a fiberglass tub so it will never rust. frame is in great condition not rusty. need to see in person.”
“Owned for 27 years. Selling, as I just don’t spend the time on it that it deserves.
Starts, runs and stops, but the engine and drivetrain are old and tired. Brakes are new all around.
Slave cylinders, Master, pads and clips. Parking brake cabling is free and works. Wheel bearings are in good shape, and all 4 recently rebuilt and repacked (left rear replaced). Needs shocks replaced. Especially the back ones. Guy that had it before me, lifted it all around about 2 inches, with “not bad” work. But that means the shock throw is “not standard”.
Wiring is all new. Put in a fuse block as well. Winch is a 12,000lb mechanical from the Power Takeoff, and works like a champ.
4wd all works, locking hubs are smooth, kingpin bearings real nice, and the front knuckle seals newly replaced and serviced with the proper lube, so it doesn’t just ooze right out. Steering gearbox centers up pretty nicely, but it too is simply “old”.
“3 Speed with Overdrive Manual transmission.
Needs top- Kaiser Willys still makes them!!
This 68 year old 4 cylinder still runs like a dream:)
You’ll be looking great this summer.”
“This Jeep belonged to my father, who bought it new in 1951. I restored everything but the engine and transmission in 2005, and had the original engine rebuilt and transmission and transfer case serviced in 2012. This Jeep is all original with original engine and 6 volt system (turn signals have been added). Includes a Stow-Master tow bar, $500 new.”
UPDATE: Pics now provided. Unusual way of mounting the winch.
“1st Generation, WWII Ford Jeep. In the one picture you make out the FORD logo stamped in the body. 100% original. Complete. Hardtop is currently on it. Also have the soft top for it. The winch on the front was made by the Bradley winch company TULSA, OKL. Model #J2-134. First $6,000 gets it. Buyer has to make arrangements for shipping or towing.”
(01/25/2017) Looks in good shape, but it isn’t as stock as seller suggests. (rear lights, front parking lights. no engine gutter, different steering wheel, seats, swing brakes, ….)
