Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Since I’ve had it I’ve put a couple thousand miles on it and replaced the master cylinder for the clutch and brakes. I’ve driven it on the freeway and while the odometer is obviously off, my buddy said we were doing 80-85. I actually think it does better on the freeway.

“1948 WILLYS JEEP PICKUP, THIS IS A GREAT WORK TRUCK. 6 CYL 226 HURRICANE, FLAT HEAD. THE DRIVE LINE HAS 35000 MILES ON IT. THE ENGINE RUNS GREAT. THE ENGINE HAS BEEN TUNED UP, WATER PUMP HAS BEEN REPLACED. THE ENGINE DOES NOT SMOKE OR USE OIL, OR LOOSE WATER. TRANSMISSION IS A THREE SPEED MANUEL. TRANSFER CASE IS A HIGH LOW RANGE. THE TRANSMISSION AND TRANSFER CASE SHIFT AND DRIVES WELL IN ALL GEARS.
THE FRONT AND REAR DIFFERENTIALS ARE IN EXCELLENT WORKING CONDITION. THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER IS NEW AND ALL THE BRAKES ARE IN GREAT CONDITION. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS 12 VOLT. THE BATTERY IS NEW; THE CHARGING SYSTEM IS A GENERATOR. ALL OF THE LIGHTS WORK. THE STEERING LINKAGE IS TIGHT AND DOES NOT NEED ANY REPAIR. A GREAT FEATURE OF THIS TRUCK IS THAT IT HAS A FLAT BED DUMP BODY. IT HAS A VERY LARGE PISTON; THERE ARE NO LEAKS AND WORKS VERY WELL. THE FRAME IS IN GREAT CONDITION, THERE IS NO RUST OR ROT. THE CAB IS IN GOOD CONDITION. THE TIRES ARE MILITARY TREAD, ALL IN GOOD CONDITION. THERE ARE MANY SPARE PARTS. MORE PHOTOS & HISTORY ON REQUEST”

Has PTO and rear gearbox in back and a plow up front.
“For sale is a fully operational early CJ5. It runs, drives, and stops well. You can drive this right down the road, even at night as the lights also work. This vehicle was used for plowing churches, and was last registered on the road last fall.
Jeep has a nice, modern title.
Tub is rough – but the front half of the body, and the half top seem to be in good shape. The dash gauge is in great condition. There’s a heater near the passenger side.
Plow goes up/down and tilts. Rear PTO unit spins. You may power agricultural attachments with this system. Plow quick disconnects, and you’re off bashing the trails.”

“For sale is a Jeep I shipped from Las Vegas. The Jeep is nearly rust free. It runs, drives, and stops. Lights work. This is fully functional and ready for fun. Clear title.
It was a part of the infamous Phil Maloof auto collection, owned by the tour guide with a mechanic on staff. The collection has been visited by Jay Leno and Pawn Stars. This Jeep sat next to Duisenbergs, Rolls Royces, Lincolns, and V-16 Cadillacs.
-New canvas top, seats
-New tires
-All new oil seals (tranny, tcase, axles) last week
It sat this winter – and could use some carb tuning. Paint job isn’t the greatest. Other than that, this is a very nice vehicle that you can enjoy during the summer. It’s nearly impossible to find an original condition Jeep in the midwest that hasn’t been patched up. The first areas to go are the toolboxes – and this one is beautiful.”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $3000.
(06/15/2016) Seller indicates there is some rust.
“Barn Find Jeep. Some rust in pan. Had Brakes and tires done by Nelson Tire in Hood river. Front brakes still sticking. Smokes when started but runs well after warm-up. Coil keeps burning out..”

Craig found this CJ-5 with a newly rebuilt engine and a fiberglass body that’s been cracked. Looks like there’s value here.
“CJ5 jeep. Engine was completely rebuilt by previous owner (huricane 4 cylinder) hardly has any miles on it since being rebuilt but hasent run in a couple years due to the carburetor needs to be cleaned. It has a fiberglass tub but is cracked from a tree falling on it. The tires are 33″ and are like brand new. We do not have a registration or title for it. The previous owner did not have one eitherl”

(09/10/2016) Painted University of Tennessee orange for you Volunteer fans. The steps have been elongated. Not sure why the “WILLYS” is painted so far back.

“Selling my Willys project. Bought it from a friend a couple years ago and it’s been sitting with not enough time to work on. I bought a new wire harness new alt, and distributor,12v. Needs work to get going. Ran great before wire harness was cut out. Complete wire harness and book to go with it. Has a PTO transfer case to go along with it as well as 2 other hoods and another set of tires. Frame is in great shape, body is not bad.”
