About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .
“Old Willy’s jeep project. Complete and appears to have some extra parts. Has the overhead valve 4 cylinder engine. Hasn’t ran in many years. Has been sitting. Owner is looking to get $2000. I think it has a title. The blue Jeep body is also for sale.”
“Up for sale 1949 Willys CJ-3A. 4cyl. New tires, shocks. Many new parts on the engine, pertronix upgrade mini starter, new water pump and aluminum radiator, new carb and fuel tank. Just needs fuel line finished for it to run. Landed a 53 CJ-3B so moving on.”
“Early civilian Willys Jeep in rough shape. Parts, project, wall art, yard art, Rat, the choice is yours. Has rust holes but it’s not a salty rot box. Floors have been patched all around. What you see is what I have. No title. Might be able to help with that for expenses, but you would need to help me confirm year and model and serial location correctly so I don’t have it wrong. Not sure of the exact model or year built. I know it’s the internet but please don’t roast me. I’m a Ford/Mopar/GM guy LOL. Might be able to deliver around Wichita, Oklahoma, DFW area of Texas, and north central Kansas/southern”
Sometime in the 1950s Bob Meyer partnered with Lloyd Sehnert to form Mountain Safari, a guide company out of Walsenburg, Colorado, The pair took clients into the Sangre De Cristo’s in Southern Colorado.
According to Bob Meyer’s obituary, Bob “took his jeeps where no one had before, including the Walsenburg fair grounds where he had challenged local horsemen to a calf-roping competition wherein Bob had mounted a saddle to the hood of his jeep so he could freely swing his lariat and lasso the calf.”

“Up for auction is this 1949 Willys Overland Jeepster. Very solid sheet metal, I could only find two rust through spots on it, one behind drivers door and one on the left lower hood which I took pictures of. It has light surface rust that should sand off easy. The engine turns freely, trans shift through gears and it rolls very easy. It does steer too. Gauges busted out. Car is pretty complete. Hotrod, ratrod, or restore. The serial number indicated it is a VJ2 Jeepster that was built right around the cutoff date for 1948 models and the beginning date of Nov. 1, 1948 for the 1949 models. With the serial number tag under the edge of the dash,
We still have some work left to do, but we got a whole lot done. I was able to help Ann with a bunch of stuff and work on the jeep some. The new irrigation systems are up and running; the calves are dining on the neighbors grass (to help out the neighbor), and our front drive/parking lot (just over 10,000 sqft) has been filled and oiled heavily and looks way better.
Here’s a quick peak at the small gauge cluster setup. seats and top are up next, though it will probably be a couple days. I need to build some more boxes for Ann.
David Adams posted this oddity on Facebook. He was hoping to learn more about it. The jeep appears to be a CJ-3A that’s been modified for some purpose that’s not clear. The side looks kind of like a Willys Quad; was that a coincidence?
Here’s one of his posts (there were several posts and I got several IMs about it).
