<– Day 7 – Mar. 26th: Darth Vader and Tractor Bob | OVERVIEW | Day 9 – Mar. 28th: Charging Futility and FC Roundup Day 1 –>

From left to right Alan, Me and Joe and Joe’s jeeps. Alan also owns a few jeeps, including a Surrey he’s been restoring. He too can blame his father for his Willys sickness.
On Thursday morning we woke up to silence. The room at the Murray was amazingly peaceful. There’s no constant hum of a nearby highway, no air condition churning noisily, just relaxing quiet. For that reason alone we liked our stay in Silver City. But, as all good things must end, we said goodbye and hit the road for a ‘blue highways’ journey through New Mexico and Phoenix.
Before we left Silver City, we wanted to take a couple photos of the former Main Street. You can see the enormity of the damage from a storm that happened in the 1880s. There has been some discussion of filling in the area, but the importance of the event in the town’s history seems to win over any discussions of change.
UPDATE: **status Unknown** Was $20,000.
That’s the most louvered hood I’ve seen on a jeep. Interesting build.

“Up for sale is my 1942 Willys MB Jeep. These WWII Jeeps are gaining in popularity and have become one of the “the must buy” affordable collector vehicles. I picked up this Jeep from the Northern reaches of the Bay Area where it had been parked for years due to a bad valve. Since acquiring the Jeep, I have addressed all the major issues to make this Jeep an extremely reliable cruiser. In fact, I drive it all the time to do local errands and to attend local car shows.
Work done within the last year:
– Engine valve to replace the one that had cracked
– Head gasket
– Head studs
– Original WWII head checked and restored
– Oil pump
– Distributor
– Points
– Plug wires
– Plugs
– Coil
– Cross over tube and intake hose
– Original WWII oil bath serviced
– Oil pan
– Water pump

A GPW with some modifications.
“bought this Jeep in a rust pile at the Creston auction in 2005. It has had a complete ground up rebuild. NO BONDO! All rust was cut out and replaced with steel! Only 1000 miles since. This Jeep most likely came off of the Malmstrom AFB and was an early 50s off-roader. When I got it, it had an “F-head” Jeep Hurricane motor and had been converted to Saginaw power steering. I wanted to retain both the military and off-road histories. So… It still has the “F-head” motor and P/S plus I converted it to 12V and added a full range overdrive making it capable of 60-65 MPH at 2000 RPMs and a real pleasure to drive. I tracked down the correct hood numbers and returned it to the original OD Green paint. Between the seats sits a 50mm ammo can that houses 2 10″ subwoofers, tweeters and an Alpine amp that can be connected to your iPod, smart phone, ect (sweet, sweet sound) plus a 12V power point. Must been seen to be appreciated – $6000 or Will consider partial or full trade for a camp trailer/5th wheel trailer”
