Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Craig sent this scan from a Willys News article (though we are uncertain of the exact issue). It shows a DRW FC-170 with some special street painting equipment.
All I have to say is, brrrrrr.
Jim wrote, “These are three prints from some old negatives which show my Dad driving out to feed hay to the livestock. My brother John is in the back of the jeep and my brother Ed is on the hay loaded in the trailer. The photos were taken at my parents’ farm in Halltown MO in winter of 1969 or 1970. Now you know why John and Ed live in Florida.”
Damian wrote to tell me that a favorite drag jeep of mine, Rapid Transit, is racing under a new owner and a new power train. It looks like it uses a Bobcat hood and (likely) body.
He writes, “believe it or not this jeep is still around in the cleves, ohio area and races regularly, but it is now a center seater 2wd and has a small block chevy, i race with the current owner and also do photography.”

UPDATE: I’m told this sold. This was listed at $1200.
Here’s a great price on a running Fleet Van that Jesse spotted.
“Must go cleaning out garage.Good project vehicle,motor runs good and 3 speed tranny works well. Have all the glass, bumpers and trim. Lost interest in this project.1200”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $7000.
Looks solid, though not 100% original.
“1953 Willy’s Jeep 4×4 all original 4 cylinder straight garaged, asking $7000.00 offers considered.”
Starts and runs, but needs brakes.
“1953 Willys Jeep CJ-3A Flat Fender, All original, except 12 volt electrical system and big brakes. Just out of in side storage with Non Op. Starts and runs. Cherry body with out damage. Small TLC required, the gas tank needs to be cleaned, new master cylinder has been installed, but system lines need to be bleed. If you have any questions please call. (10/21/2013) This certainly looks parade ready, but calling it ‘show room’ condition seems a stretch.

(03/29/2013) This has a few patches, but it runs and drives.
“Dad bought this new. I’m the 2nd owner. Have title. Runs and drives. Needs brake work. Body is functional w/no holes in floor pan. Frame is in excellent shape. New radiator. Best offer w/reserve. Drivers door and rear hatch are available.”

Body is a ittle rough, but it appears to run and drive.
