UPDATE: SOLD!
“Mostly stock and lightly restored Willys 1953 CJ3B for sale. $3,600 OBO
This is the high hood version of the post-WWII Willys civilian jeep.
It has the 4 cylinder 134cu, overhead valve “Hurricane” engine. Compression is good (120, 119, 115, 125). The engine has the original oil bath air filter. The jeep still has the original 6 volt electrical and charging system including starter, generator, coil and lights. All of the fluids have been replaced in the last 6 months. The odometer is working and reads 29,XXX. That may be the true miles, but no guarantee. From what I know of the jeeps history, it’s possible.
The transmission is the T-90 three-speed with the dual stick Dana transfer case. The transmission shifts smoothly and does not drop out of 2nd as is common with these older transmissions.
The body was sanded and sand blasted down to bare metal prior to minor sheet metal repair, priming and painting. The body and bed is painted with TSC Restoration Series “International Harvester Red”. The wheels, windshield and roll bar are painted gloss black. It’s not a high end professional paint job but it’s not a rattle can and paint brush job either. The floorboards are solid, but the hat channels underneath need repair as is common with these old jeeps.
I have the original vacum wipers, but have electrical wipers to replace them. This jeep came stock with out turn signals. I have a turn signal kit that is yet to be installed. Depending on the wheather, I might get out in my tent garage and get that done before long.
It has the original brakes, which do work…like 65 year old 9 inch drum brakes. 🙂
The wheels are original 17 inch; painted black and the tires are Maxxis and have about 25-30% tread left.
The seats are original stock and were upholstered at one time in the past with black vinyl. They still look pretty decent. There are no back seats. A new black bikini top is included. Also included is an older black vinyl BesTop brand full soft top and doors. The full top is about 20 years old and needs some seams repaired, but the vinyl, windows and zippers are OK.
I bought it in Georgia where they don’t issue titles for vehicles this old. I’ve taken it to the NC Dept of motor vehicles and they have inspected it and certified the VIN and that it isn’t stolen and I have the paper work to send to the state to have a NC tile issued. I will work with the buyer to get the title if needed. I have the jeep registered, tagged and insured currently.
This looks like it could use some polish.

I’m sure I have posted this one before, but I couldn’t find it . . . nice looking rig.

Kevin’s wrote me the other day to tell me about some of his videos. He’s got a variety of PTO related videos, including one of his FC operating this neat wood splitter. Just don’t get your hands caught in it! You can see a listing of all Kevin’s videos here.
