About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .
“I am the third owner of this Jeep. I have done a frame off restoration, I have pictures and receipts for everything that has been done. Frame was blasted down to bare metal and then coated with epoxy primer. Rebuilt engine with new parts and receipt for machine work that was done. New clutch, new gaskets in the transmission and transfer case. 1300 miles since rebuild on new speedometer. Led rear brake lights. lined both sides of the tub which was sprayed in by the paint shop. Rebuilt steering, new steering wheel. The list goes on and on. Basically a new 1961 Jeep. It now has a jeep roll bar and bikini top not shown in the pics. I am wanting to start another build that i just bought but need to sell this one first. Email or call, thanks for looking.”
(Apr 4, 2009) My first inclination is that this is an M-38 body due to the cutouts on the passenger side. However, there’s no opening for the gas tank on the driver’s side. So, I’m gonna guess this might be an aftermarket body replacement. There are interesting shutoff valves on the rubber tubing that feeds water towards the heater core. Not sure what they are for. There was an Overdrive with this, but maybe it was sold?
“1946 Willys CJ-2A, Buick V-6, 4-speed, Dana 18 transfer case, power steering, soft top and doors, heater, newer seats front and rear, newer fuel tank, chrome rims with 31 inch all terrains. $3000 or trade. More vehicle features: 2 Door; Four Wheel Drive; Manual Transmission; Dana 44 Rear; Full Size Spare; Locking Hubs; Oversize Fuel Tank; Oversized Tires; Roll Bars.”
This might be a good price. Note the seller mentions the paint isn’t very good.
“New plugs/wires/cap/rotor/points runs great!Lights/blinkers/wipers work.Newer seat covers in great shape.Newer headliner sagging in spots.New 7.50×16″military non directional tires on 16″ pickup rims with a original 15″Goodyear military tire on original yellow rim as spare(original owners manual shows vehicle with this style of tire)Bad paint job over original paint.Very complete as far as original bits.New tailights and headlight rings and grill pieces.4 wheel drive works.Spent most of my time cleaning the vehicle up and finding correct items and installing some new wiring.Needs a parking brake cable and a fix on the heater.Definetly a attention getter.”
This is listed as a 1949 CJ-2A, but this appears to be a DJ-3A (note the dash and the front bumper for starters). The VIN number is particularly strange, as it looks like it has two different type of numbers. Note how the 2nd set of numbers is very light and of a different font than the first set of numbers. Something seems amiss to me.

This looks like a project, but the rust doesn’t look too bad.
