Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Here’s a CJ Dealer Promotion ashtray that Craig pointed out to me. However, it’s is located in Thailand.
“You are looking at a authentic old vintage used ashtray & jeep. 6 inch wide by 2 inch high for tray. Jeep itself is 2 1/2 inch long. Made of chromed metal. Extensive oxidation to chrome. Looks like it may not polish out. No tobbaco smell.”

(03/15/2012) This looks in good shape. It is a pretty early CJ-3A.
“Good condition. New floor pans. All original, including 6 volt charging system. New battery. Runs well. Does not burn oil. Tires need replacing. Soft top and doors, but no rear side panels. Odometer says 1851, but I don’t think it is correct; I have no idea of real miles.”
I can’t tell if this was a WW2 or CJ, since there has been at least some body repairs.

This jeep might just set the record for the longest tow bar. There is some value here.
“1948 willys jeep forsale, all there and doesnt run. Do Not have a title and it has never been registered in the State Of Alaska I had DMV run the serial number. I only know the last 48 years history of it. Make me an offer I cant refuse! Would love to see someone fix it back up, I wanted to but don’t have the time or money.”

“Recently retired and I have too many projects. I need to sell this one to help finish my other antique truck. This is an earlier 46 Willys with the 3 speed on the column. It’s all there and with a fresh battery and some gas it should start. I just replaced the stater switch and cleaned the gas tank. It will need to trailered or hauled and I can help with loading.”

Kevin writes, “We made it to Moab from Georgia, what an experience! I traveled 1,750 miles @ 25 cents per mile.
I had my share of adventure — Tranny coolant line breaks, gas gauge peg’s at fuel, lost a gas cap and bought a non-vent cap, which caused every hose connected to the tank leak like the Titanic of gas, loose distributor, two plug wires not doing their job, busted motor mouint, spring perches broke (spot welded). All the particapants made it up the Pucker Hill, but me … oh what fun it is to get stuck and broke down. Despite all of this, I had a Great Time!!! These people know how to party and have an honest good time!
All too quickly MOAB 3 – 2012 has come to an end. So, I’m on my way back to Georgia, carrying plenty of red sand for the ride home.
